Hi all - I've got a buddy that found this guitar going for cheap on goodwill.com, and he sent me these pics asking about it. I've never seen this body style, but it's got a strat neck and the body looks like a strat with polio. I mean, the everything looks exactly like a strat except that the horns are lopped off. Is that what we're looking at - a home job of some kind? I haven't seen this weird shape anywhere, ever. Has anyone else? Any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Newbie that I am, realized too late that this is a bass forum. Don't know if this post can be moved or not... Sorry 'bout that!

dude i think it's a home modded strat... it looks like its horns were sanded down and it was probably refinished cause of the way the finish seems to be stripping off... talk about guitar csi :o

Right? That's a heck of a lot of trouble to go to for such a questionable result.

Between that and the flood damage or whatever, this poor fiddle's been through holy old hell. I think a respectful burial is in order.

i wouldn't say that... the rest is pretty good i suggest you get a new strat body and use the rest of the guitar to your advantage

Mayhap so... Hard to tell from the photos, but I suppose you might at least have a passable 90s Mexican neck. Machine heads might even be okay. But the rest of that hardware looks pretty tore up.

But what the heck do I know? Apparently the bids got up to $130 last time my buddy checked. (Up from $20 the day before).
