Just happened to remember, a friend has been drooling over a Carvin amp. I always thought they were expensive, i never even priced them, but they're pretty reasonable.

They've gone down in price, a lot, I think they might get rid of their line of cabinets...they did that in the '90s too, slashed prices then new cabinets. Their heads are still pricey tho, but really excellent heads. I just would hate to get them fixed for the tube head, no dealers but CA. I was doing a gig one day and another bassist had a 600w head with 210s and a 115 like mine, but Carvin, it sure sounded better. Straight thru, just like I do with my amp - this was the mid '90s after all :)

as of 5-7 yrs a go the only negative is price - and no dealer network, but I wouldn't mind having a full stack Carvin :D

thanks for the tips guys, all of this is going down in my notepad of everything bass. slightly of topic here but just some quick questions to satisfy my curiosity:
1) is their any realy diffence between a bass head and a guitar head? some bass players use guitar heads along with bass cabs (Stanley Clarke used one at some point in his career aparently)
2) which companies do the best power amps for 80's/00's Metal? (i.e Maiden/Avenged Sevenfold)
3) can you use a multi effects pedal with full EQ (e.g boss's series) in place of a preamp?

this has nothing to do with what i'm buying, more future reference

It's cool. If you have tried it and you openly suggest it for starters, it's good for me. I could check out some Peavey bass amps and find out if I will like them too.

Is anyone at Fender reading these posts? Maybe one or two people bad mouthing the American Specials but, no one has had anything good to say. MIM is not a bad way to go. Both my FSR And Jazz are MIM. For what I want and expect out of them they more than meet my expectations.

I didn't send him lemons, it's you guys in Florida that have them growing in your back yard.

Wow, look at that! Three American Standards hanging together. HHHMMM, maybe they should offer them in lemon yellow, then there would be no doubt.

LOL...Hey Carlos, if you like, try to find the TKO combos (Peavey). The were great work horses...you can even find them in 100w models. Back then that was a lot for a combo :)

Ssssshhhh! Is that a pool starting that I hear? You always end up making a move when you past bot pieces at one time.

Hurry everyone, you know how to reserve squares.
