Hey hieronymous, They're all nice, but that Autumnglo is really something. Great Ric collection you have. Very Cool.
I use the top edge of the bridge pup, and I don't rest my arm across the top of the body. This put's my string plucking fingers more centered to both pups, and I don't stress wrist, and fingers. For me this style quickens, and makes my playing cleaner. It works for me, may not for you.

I see you like the striped or hybred basses. I usually go for the large mouth and on occasion the small mouth. They just feel better to me. JMHO

Yeah, I think Autumnglo is my favorite Ric color! For some reason I was never comfortable resting my thumb on the bridge pickup even thought that's what I do on a P or Jazz Bass. I learned to rest my thumb on the pickguard, end of the neck, or just play with a pick!

I bought it in 2002 for a little under $800 before Ric prices skyrocketed - this is one that I don't think I will ever sell (yeah yeah, we've heard that before) because my future wife was with me at the time.

Here's my favorite shot of this bass:

You got me on the bridge pup. It's the neck pup I'm using, not the bridge. I have the pup selector set for open to both pups, and it sounds great plucking between the two pups. Great pic of the Autumnglo.

The bass section on the Washburn forums is a little slow, is it that way here also? The store told me that there are six bands wanting for every bass player. Don't know why more people don't love the bass. But they sure want to crank the bass up. Tom. :)

I think I can understand why the bass section of the Washburn forum is slow !!!

It is slow here sometimes -- like summer and winter and fall and spring. It goes in spurts.

I like your post a lot. The store was right about bass players being in demand. I think more people don't love bass because they want to be guitar Gods with a fan blowing their hair back on stage. So instead of a bass they get an el cheapo imitation Tiesco Del Ray and go for it. The First Act amp goes with the fake Tiesco,
Always crank the bass my friend. Have a great day and hang tuff.

What is my bass? I own an 80's Alembic. That, with my Peavey TNT and TKO(running in a chain) is one mighty rig. I still need a fretless, though...a Fender fretless Jazz, to be exact. I'll probably save for a new one of those.

Is that 4001 which inspired to wire your Tele Bass a la Ric-O-Sound?

OK, how about a Gibson & an Alembic? Les Paul meets Stanley Clarke!

We need pics of your Alembic - is it a Spoiler? Distillate? Or Series perhaps?

Not really - my Tele is two separate mono outputs instead of one mono & one stereo like Ric-O-Sound - but interestingly enough, the jack plate is from an old Rickenbacker copy that the luthier had lying around!

Or how about a Rick & an Alembic?

The big 4 for me are Fender, Rickenbacker, Gibson & Alembic. All so different, but all vital parts of the history of the electric bass.

Is that Stanley Clarke signature 5-string?

Yup! I actually met Stanley Clarke's daughter - a friend was going to have her help me get my bass autographed, and when we showed it to her she said "my dad only plays a 4 string!" and we both countered "not any more - he started playing a 5-string tuned EADGC! There's video of it from a show in Europe!" She knew we were geeks then and took us backstage and I got my bass signed!

My Blue Flower bass.
I use it 99% of the time when I play now.

Also, my Amervintage 62 reissue, which I don't play much anymore because the neck is very wide and hurts a little. Any takers?
