Hello, I have been toying with the idea of putting my B-34 Bullet bass neck on a Mustang bass body(if I can find one). That way I could route in a P-Bass pickup and have string through body and a long scale neck all in one shot while preserving the originality of the USA Bullet bass.

My question is: Is the neck bolt spacing the same on both models?

Thanks,

TD

If both basses are USA made, then the neck bolt pattern should be the same on both basses.

I've actually had the opportunity to make some measurements from a Mustang Bass Resissue at GC the other day. The measurents at first blush appear identical. The only questions outside of actual fit now is if the G string will be long enough after routing it through the body. There's got to be a way to try it out or just measure it out.

Thanks.

Since neck plates are interchangeable between Fender guitars and basses on older USA made stuff, the answer to your original question is pretty obvious.

The real question is why go through all of the trouble to do what you want to do when you could just get a newer Precision bass and have a string- through body and everything else that you want and keep your bullet bass original.
