I guess we've gone a bit off topic, but anyway, I'm in the northeast and I've never had one fuse problem in five years.

Which model(s) are we talking about? Perhaps folks were driving them past what they could put out? My 700RB-II with the 2x12 @ 8 ohms is uncomfortably loud with things running at no more than 25%. There are several volume/gain knobs, so I'm not going to itemize all of them, but it's important to run the one on the left low and use both the woofer and gain on the right (by the effects loop) up around 75%. Otherwise, you get a dead sound and you're driving the amp too hard and getting no good output.

Not sure of models Fretless, I always thought GK were good, till a few guys that had the GK stacks were telling me they were having problems. I knew Flea used them then, not sure now, Duff, those guys won't endorse crap. But we do know artist get the best stuff. NYC. NYHC scene.

Yeah I'll keep commenting on this topic. I just realized that this offhand comment sparkes something that was off topic and figured that it needed it's own thread. It happens on another forum I frequent too. Although I'm a firm believer in the Chaos Theory and a conversation will go where it wants. I didn't think this was the appropriate way of having this conversation.

Peace Out,
Rev J

i use a GK 400RB that was made in 1989. It has a connected cord since it was made before they adopted the standard PC power cord, which I think is a great idea.

It is a more limited amp than my MarkBass Little Mark II but it is a great 150 watt bass amp that I use for smaller gigs. I pair it with an Ampeg Porta-Bass single 10 cabinet and it works fine.

There seems to be a lot of 80's to 90's amp dumping going on now. If its not Neodymium that it getting sold sometimes pretty cheap compared to what these amps originally sold for.

I saw a 800RB for $429 used of course at my local store.
These amps used to go for 600 bucks or more.
The tone of these amps and how to set them up, is understood by a lot of players. That's why its fun to use them.
