At first thought, try lowering the pickup on that side.

If that doesn't work, buy a new bass without that problem.

If ine string is sounding louder that the others, you have check a few things.

Is that string set closer to the pickup?

If so raise it so that it is at the same distance as the other strings from the pickup. You may want to allow for the curvature of the finger board, but if a
G string is too loud - raise it up!

Is the G string a different brand of string that the others on your bass?

If so- change all of your strings so that they match in volume.

A lot of people try to save money on bass strings buy only buying them or changing them when one breaks. It is a false economy.

Invest in a new set of strings and have them installed buy a pro if you don't know how to do it right yourself.

Then check the volume of each string. They should be balanced as a set of strings. New strings make a big difference and often solve developing problems caused by old and dead bass strings.

I know that some of my favorite players use/used Rotosound (Billy Sheehan, Jaco, Chris Squire, John Entwistle, Geddy Lee, Mark King etc) but honestly I have had a lot of issues with them. They have had quality control issues (i.e. one or more string in a package being dead on arrival). And they don't have much of a lifespan.

Peace Out,
Rev J

I like Dean Markley Blue Steels, they have that same basic piano-like sound as Rotos, but in my opinion have a better overall tone, and they last just a little longer, and even when they do eventually lose a little brightness, they still sound good to me. YMMV, but I like '
em.

I know! its a Mex made  Mex fenders dont have the best electronics,it could be an electric problem, you say its NOT the pickup height is everything else set-up properly?string height, intonation, nut cut properly ? all these must be ruled out because maybe just one may not cause all that much string volume probs. but a couple of them can affect the sound, get it setup if its still off then have a thorough once over done,I ALWAYS SAY"LEARN HOW TO FIX YOUR OWN GUITARS/BASS"its worth is priceless. :D
