I think there's plenty of information on www about MB-5. There is a site about Heartfield line of instruments that were later rebranded and got Fender logo.
I've got MB-5 too, a very nice and easy bass.

I've been playing an MB-5 since 1998, and I absolutely love one thing about it: the neck.

So what I'd like to know are:

1) Neck pocket dimensions (should I decide to move neck to another body)

2)
a) Any other necks out there with the same specs (should I need to replace it)?
b) If not, what are the specs of the neck so I could get a custom one made?
c) Did they ever make the neck with a maple FB?

The Fender MB and Squier MB models were the last remnants of the Heartfield Project to survive. Just search Heartfield on this site and you'll find a wealth of knowledge. Heartfield made an array of basses of modern design with significant advances incorporated on their higher end models including XLR Direct Output in addition to the standard one-quarter inch jack. They are very good playing instruments.

Interesting that some were branded FENDER, some Heartfield by Fender and some just Heartfield. They had both bolt on and neck-through models.

The Heartfield project people set out to out-Ibanez Ibanez. And for a while they did. The problem was the lousy US Dollar to Japanese Yen exchange rate. Once the USA sale price on a high end Heartfield basses reached within a hundred dollars of the cost of a high end USA made Fender, they stopped importing the higher end stuff and set out to make the MB-4 and MB-5 Fenders/Squiers using the body, neck and headstock design of the bolt on neck low end Heartfield basses.

Here's one good info link on the Heartfield Project. http://www.heartfield-central.com/html/general.htm

The Modern series basses were the precursors to the Mexico-made Dimension models which came into production in 2004.

The six-string MB-6 has never been issued.

SORRY.. Selling is not allowed.

It's a violation against the forum's rules.

No.

The MBs were offered only with a rosewood fretboard.
