On the Jag bass what do you actually do with all of the kill switches and things on there. By the way the bass sounds amazing and looks cool i was just wondering about those switches. Thanks

Each pickup has an on/off switch mounted on the pickguard. The third switch selects between series and parallel wiring. The two large rotary knobs control volume and passive treble rolloff. The switch on the upper bass bout’s chrome plate selects active or passive electronics. The two adjacent roller knobs, which control bass cut and treble cut, function only when the switch is in the up, or active, position. All of these controls offer a bucket-full of onboard tone shaping.

I found a chart for it off google when I got my Jaguar, but I can't find it. I found this on a website and just copy/pasted it. It puts it in better words than I can.

I Picked one of these up in red about a year ago and I'm really pleased with it. I'm a Precision player at heart but it just looked SO cool!! 8)

I dont really use the active as I prefer the warmth of passive, but its a very versatile animal and I dont see me parting with it for many many years to come...

Hey thanks for posting this. I was noodling around with one of these and in the short time I had it couldn't figure out exactly what the controls were actually doing.

It's a cool looking (different) bass, like a Jazz Bass but different look. I may get one someday.

I have a red one & it's great. Very classy. The 70's style block inlay neck is sooo cool! The red headstock is even cooler. I had a hard time getting one, when they first came out. I had it on back-order with Musician's Friend for 6 months! They seem to be easier to get hold of now though.

As with the Mustang bass, I wish there were more color choices. This would be awesome in Olympic white w/ matching headstock!

I live in Southern California & there are retro surf bands on the scene that would totally go for these if they had the same colors available as the Jaguar guitars.

Hey guys,

I'm new here on the Fender boards and I actually got the Jaguar Bass in Hot Rod Red 2 days ago. Really love this bass alot, even so much I had went to guitar center last month and couldn't find a good J-Bass or P-bass that I loved. I was looking in the $600-$800 range. So I actually settled for a Schecter Stilletto custom 4 (which I liked alot), but after playing for 3 weeks or so I just couldn't help but to still want that Fender tone. So I picked up the Jaguar Bass(returned my Schecter within the 30 days) and fell in love with it. The only problem I have with it;it has a really loud "humming buzz" when in active mode but when I touch any metal part on my bass it stops as if my hand acts as a ground. So i will try to rectify this problem but besides that this bass rocks! I'm also new to the parallel/series switch which I know what it does but I don't know what it does for my tone. Anyways, sorry for the long first post. Later guys!
