I might be crazy (probably) but I am trying to find out about a bass I played as a kid. I was a young teen in the late 80's and a friend had a Fender bass tht had a body similar to a BC Rich Warlock. I remember it had a skinny neck that I really liked. I thought it was called a "Rock Star" but can't find anything like that. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know about the Warlock body shape - well, maybe the top horn - but based on the skinny neck, the late '80s, and the Rock Star name, maybe it was a Fender Performer bass?

There's a thread about them here:

That's it. In my mind I saw slightly different body style, but seeing it made it clear. Thanks!

I used to play with this bass when I was still a teen, but it wasn't mine. Just borrowed from a friend of mine. I got to say, this is the best bass I have tried so far.

Alexander Dumble (formerly Howard Dumble until he legally changed his name) makes the most sought after boutique amplifiers in the world. Every amplifier is personally hand-built to order and the waiting list can take several years. And Dumble does not build them for just anyone -- his criteria for accepting a customer's order remains as much of a mystery as the 'secret' components which he conceals with black epoxy on his circuit boards.

One just popped up on eBay and bidding is quite brisk for it to be so early. It is sunburst.

Thanks brotherdave! I'll be very interested to see what this one sells for. The last one I saw for sale was on craigslist asking $750 and it killed me that I didn't have the extra money at the time. I still don't so all I can do is weep while another one in a color I don't own goes by. But there will be others. I don't think these will ever become super-expensive like '50s and '60s Fenders.

Here's a link if anyone's interested: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Performe ... 2c5f655340

This one looks pretty good. That "F" button falling off the knob is a common problem. I put my original knobs away to keep them safe and installed white Strat knobs which look correct and won't fall apart.

That is a good idea. The glue holding the caps on is 26 years old now.
