This fall is when my band will be getting back together, since we'll all be back from vacation, i need a new bass. im talking 5-string. our last concert we did a bunch of misfits but this year we're leaning to alot more metal we've made a few of our own songs, which aren't ready yet, and we'll be throwing some shows in sept. hopefully. anyway i need some info on a nice 5-string i personally play a lot of metal and my 4-string's not cuttin it. What do you think?

For the Metal as far as Fender 5er's go I'd take a look at one of these..

If you can get away with a 4 (and I understand why you couldn't given the trends in new metal), I'd give this a look...

Of course, there are the standard issue Schecter's that every metal band uses now days, but wth...be different I say.

The Jazz Bass V Active is pretty impressive too, Even The Squier Unit was decent too

the Jazz Bass V is the most solid 5 string I've found. All the others wobbled when I hit the lowB but this one is always solid and earth shaking.
By the way, if the wide neck of a 5 string is to restrictive - restring your 4 string with a 5 string set and leave off the G.
