Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a Jaguar bass, but I wanted to ask a few questions about it first, so if you own one or know anyting about it, I would appreciate a few words. Thanks.

First, can you turn the active electrons off, if like say your battery goes out?

And with all those switches can you get an almost P bass sound out of it? what kinds of sounds can you get out of it period if you have a good amp?
I'm wanting a bass that can do P bass and Jazz bass sounds.

Also any general comments about getting a new bass would be much appreciated. I'm also considering a delux p bass special with the jazz neck and PJ electroncs. And thoughts on that either?

Thanks guys.

I was going to suggest that myself seeing as you want the P and J bass sound in one instrument. Probably the safest bet in that regard (and a fine instrument to boot).

On a totally aesthetic (and therefore shallow) level Jaguar basses are stunning, especially with the matching headstock. Very cool.

The Jaguar Bass is a great bass and you can squeeze out a more twangy P-bass sound out of it. The switches are for pickup selectiona and you have a treble switch thingy and a bass control. Not to mention the Master Tone knob underneath the Master Volume. This bass sounds really good, but if you were trying to get a more twangy sound out of a bass i would go with a active jazz. A deluxe active Jazz goes for 649.99 and plays great through an amp, but the Jaguar is more of a Jazz bass and gives you the twangyness you want but not as much as the active jazzes do. Good Luck!!
