I own a Fender Mustang Reissue bass. I have been thinking of selling because I never play it. I bought it and it just sat in the case. Would it be worth more selling it sometime later or will fender be making these for awhile?

Hard to know, but I have a feeling they’ll be making them for a while.

How much did you pay for it?

I got mine before the prices went up; I paid $565 brand new, so at least if I did decide to sell it, I might recoup a decent chunk of what I spent.

I doubt holding on to it will be to your advantage, especially since the prices might even go down a bit.

But I’m certainly no expert; that’s just my semi-educated opinion.

I paid $430 used. It was before the price went up though. In 2001 I bought MIM Jazz Bass for $314 and it is now $599. I would NEVER pay $600 for that bass, what a rip off. I understand cost goes up but $600 is just ridiculous. Im sure Jazz bass sales have gone down because of that. You might as well buy a used American Jazz bass for $800. I have always been a Fender fan but boy was that a mistake on their part. You should feel robbed if you paid that much or a MIM Jazz Bass

I am also a bit bothered about the ridiculous amount of money Fender has hiked the price up too.
I was about to put a down payment on a 3009 american series Fender p-bass (black w/maple f-board)I could not justify paying 1299.00$ or so and held off, which ended up be a godsend because the next week the store I usually buy from was selling a 60th anniversary Jazz bass with the now defunct S-1 switching,r/wood f/board,pearloid f/makers ETC..)for like 699.99(mint to the tee)and a matching 3ts/burst p-bass from 2005 for 499.00$ and also in a un-used condition.
So I basically got both basses for about the same give or take dollar amt as the one new Bass would have set me back :P .
Also I cant belive the have the audasity to be selling Mex made basses for the dollar amt. they are asking,1299.00$ for a road worn bass PLEASE! I had the luck of walking into my local music store and seeing like 5 of these cookie cutter designed basses, all 5 had the EXACT wear marks as they each sported, missing paint in the same area as the others, neck finish worn in the exact design and area too,how could they justify the price? because its now the new cool to have a vintake looking beat up bass that people will but them that way insted of putting the miles on themselves,THATS ALL THE FUN with it no?
Its like a pair of old sneakers or a worn in pair of Doc Martens, the wear-and-tear is like a log book of gigging out or practicing for hours on end,its your story to tell ,its not for a machine to mimic and overcharge .
YOU DO IT!

I've seen new RI Mustangs going for as little as $550, so depending on the condition, I would think a $400-500 range would be a good asking price. I picked up a 2005 RI for $475 at a resale shop.
