I've been fortunate enough to start off with two basses: A MIM Fender Jazz, and a 5-string Yamaha RBX. Both are great for me so far, and I hope I can rely on them for years to come. I'm still a beginner so I might change some things along the way, but I think the more I play those basses the harder it will be for me to get rid of them (if I ever do), especially of the Jazz bass. :)

awsome! being young, talented and Italian is like winning the lottery of life. it think the whole gutarist/ bassist thing is common everywhere. here in britian i know 10+ guitarists, 15+ drummers and 2 bassists. including myself :(

My first bass was a 1968 Fender Tele bass, which I bought used in 1980. I still have it, though I foolishly modded it a bit in 1981, but I did keep all the original parts.

My second bass was a used Peavey T-40, heavy and awesome, with loads of bells and whistles. I still have both and use them for recording now and then.

My 1st bass in 1958,was a blonde Hofner President, a pretty good bass to begin on. After I could play without looking at the fretboard, I part exchanged it for a 1959 sunburst Fender Precision.
Later I had to reluctantly part with it but got a bargain Cherry Red Gibson EBO to carry on rockin. Unbelievably a kid in a german band wanted it so badly,he swapped his 6 month old 1965 Fender Jazz bass for it. That was my last bass and I used it till I retired from rockin n rollin 1970. Sometimes wish I still had them cos they,re all worth a lot of money today.

Mine was a 1966 Coral Precision lookalike made by Danelectro. Four strings, sunburst, rosewood neck. My second was 1968 Jazz

.And, no, I don't want to talk about why i don't have them anymore,

My first bass was a 75/76 Fender Musicmaster. I traded it in for an Ibanez copy of a Ric several years later. I am without both now!

My first bass was an Ibanez BTB405QM. I bought it before I knew anything about playing bass, and thought it would give me flexibility. It's 35" scale, and as a complete newbie, it was a bear to play.

My teacher recommended that I get a 4-string so it would be easier for me to play, so I bought an MIM Deluxe P Bass Special because it has both a P pup and a J pup, and it has the P body and a J neck.

I still have both, and have just added an MIM P Bass. :D

My first, and so far only, is a 2003 Fender Mustang Bass. I like the short scale because it is easier switching from my Strat. It's like a little brother to the P-Bass, which may be my next bass. I recently restrung it with GHS Precision Flatwounds and it has a nice mellow thump. My only complaint is the truss rod adjustment is in the heel, requiring removal of the neck. Not a biggie, since I've only had to tweak it one time in eight years. :?

My first Bass was a Squier Standard Precision Bass Special black metallic with white pick guard. It's not stock at the moment it's been defretted and have added a new set of DiMarzio P/J pick ups.

When I wanted to play bass at 12 years old my mother insisted in formal instruction. She contacted Alvin Pulley Studio's & asked what she should buy me for a bass. Mr. Pulley sold her a beat up but very functional Fender Musicmaster bass for $25. He didn't offer an amp & I got a really lousy no name amp. Of course, they didn't have squires back then Fender was 10 or so years away from making guitars & basses anywhere but the USA.

I have played 6 string guitar since 1964. I've picked up friend's bass's before and plinked around some on them but never bought one. Well I recently bought a Fender T-Bucket Acoustic/Electric and I love it. Sunburst in color and it's SWEET!

My first bass was a NORMA (MIJ) for Christmas 1970. I got my first Fender in 1972, a brand new Precision. When I found out that Fender actually made left-handed instruments I ordered a lefty Precision in 1975 and got it in 1976. Fender only made leftys once a year, and I had to order paid in full in advance sight unseen. I still have & play it to this day some 36 years later. No, it is not for sale.

1974 Hayman 40/40 (Made in England) 4 string, Maple body and neck. The thing weighed a ton but sounded really good. Ever heard of Hayman?
