I've had this bass for 26 or 27 years. I got it from a pawn shop in Ft. Lauderdale when I was a kid for $80 bucks with the hard case. Looking back, I think it was hot cause the serial numbers were scratched out. The only serial number on the headstock thats still there is the letter "E".

I taught myself how to play on it. Everytime I break it out it feels like an old pair of Chuck Taylor's. It's all original except I replaced the pickguard.

I've never seen another one being played and was wondering if there was any market for them. I never see them on eBay or anywhere else and I hate to part with it but if someone was interested, I might. It's in excellent condition.

I'm not sure how to post pictures but you can paste the links to them if they don't show up. Sorry

I have no valid info on these other than they do show up on Evil-bay once in a great while. I found one that was short scale, my preferred model, one time that was like $400, that's about the cheapest I've seen.

The only thing that might hurt a sale is the serial number being scratched out so the age can't be verified, otherwise late model Fenders can get some great bucks on auction.

I've never had the balls to do it, but can the neck be taken off to verify the age?

I would sure think so, take off all your strings, and remove the bolts in the plate on the backside, that should be all there is to it.

I always make sure to take the tension off all the strings as evenly as possible to avoid stressing the neck to much. I've heard here that it's not necessary but I figure why chance it?

The USA Bullet basses were made in the early eighties. Probably 1980-1983, then Fender moved the model to Japan as a Squire Bullet Bass, also a very good bass, but not a USA like yours.

I see that you have a sunburst Bullet that is very nice.

There is definitely a market for these basses. Any bass player who plays yours will see that it is a good bass and will probably like to have one.

I own two of these basses and I think they have some of the nicest necks on any Fender bass. I swapped one of my bullet necks with the neck of a 1983 Jazz bass that had been made fretless.
The Bullet neck fit perfectly and made the Jazz bass a better bass.

The Bullet bass pickup is just like the pickup used on the Mustang bass.

Its a split PU with very long pole pieces that extend under the pickup coil.
