Other then the anniversary red Fender Jazz Model for 2010, I dont see any other new models. Wonder why??? Fender tends to stick with the tried and true apparently.

That is true, though it wouldn't hurt to add a P-bass.

The American Deluxe series, now revamped with fresh looks and cool CBS styling.

BTW, a lot of customers are apparently not satisfied with the new basses because they are not shielded as expected and hum. Normally, Fender shields all its guitars and basses with copper foil to prevent the nasty 60-cycle buzz.

They're probably working on a new, catchy line, like the "Road Worn" series.

Maybe they'll have the "Titanic" series, that's when they soak them in salt water for 60 days, or, perhaps the "Let's be honest" series, that's where they make mexican basses, charge outrageous prices and admit that they're just looking to make a fast buck because they know that we can't resist something new.

Now settle down, I'm just stating my opinion. Ever wonder why they run out of the "new" models so fast? Great marketing and a sound understanding of what the market will bear.

How many times can you reinvent the wheel.

After arguably inventing then refining the affordable working musicians electric bass guitar, which incidentally set the industry standard for recorded tone and live performances, any changes that come without disregarding tradition will be through small and slight modifications and new refinements.

Most common working professional musicians tend to stick what works, for reason for the 'love' of and there familiarity/comfort zone of the instrument they use regularly. Also the lack of a consistent day job or other supplementary income doesn't make them a regular candidate that will likely in result purchases of new Fender instruments. Whether it is aspiring musicians or folks buying gifts for existing musicians, without the repackaging of various price points and some calculated new marketing to pull in new potential customers of various incomes/budgets, this would mean that Fender as company would cease to exist.

Though it might seem silly at times to regular musicians to see what is likely a fad in relation to new Fender's hitting the market, it is a necessary tool to make money. Otherwise, you can't keep the lights on. This would mean loosing a iconic tradition in the musical tone tool world and the loss of many jobs of real human beings who are likely as passionate about making and selling musical instruments as the aspiring and performing musicians who count on the availability of the time proven tools and replacement parts of artistic expression.

I personally am not good regular customer because I have found my favorite instrument and my tight finances at the moment, but Fender can be be reassured that every time I perform or record that I am living and breathing advertisement of an instrument I love. Though irrepressible in terms of gigs under her belt, if something was to happen to the tool of my trade, I can't imagine not being able not being able to purchase a new Fender bass or guitar. Without attracting other viable customers, whether they play professionally, just collect, play part-time, have G.A.S., whatever the reason, again if Fender stops selling instruments, my option in the future to welcome a new Fender would no longer be an option.

I'd like to see an American Jazz Bass with Precision body option.

Jazz neck and pickups with the smaller symmetrical body. Looks classic Fender, but with a rarely seen twist.

G&L has done it (JB2) why not Fender.

I (and others) have said it before, but matching headstock color would be a nice option as well.
