Im reconstructing this beautiful bass and the electronics are completely shot. My goal is to keep it as close to original make up as possible. Im wondering what kind of pickup/electronics i should throw in it to improve tone and reduce static. Any help and or links would be much appreciated.

A Musicmaster bass originally had a Stratocaster guitar pickup under its solid pickup cover, so If you want to restore the bass to original spec. that is what you should use along with two 250k pots wired as volume and tone controls.

If you want to improve the bass, then you could look for a 4 pole peice bass pickup that will fit a Musicmaster bass.

Perhaps Seymour Duncan Inc. has something that will fit.

I have a Seymour Duncan in my Musicmaster, it was a big improvement gain AND tone wise. Very little trimming in the pickguard was necessary to get it installed.

I will have to double check but I think the MM bass used two 250k pots and a single capacitor wired just like the volume and tone controls on a Precision bass.

Just google Fender bass schematics or check Brotherdave's website for lots of good info on Fender basses.
