Read the other posts on Musicmasters, the Mustang is an upgrade on those. Sweet basses, very similar size and play action. If you're shorter or have hands that can't palm a basketball than it may be the one for you.

Just out of curiosity, what is this little gem going for? Color?

I just purchased a 1971 mustang bass - I absolutely love it. It is an easy transition for my hands as my background foundation is guitar. I have a 3/4 Gibson f- hole 125 - that is the easiest to play, but this comes close for what type of instrument it is!!!

You will never regret spending the dough on an American made one either! Much, much wiser investment -

I have a short scale bass (Not a fender though), and it's fun to play--but finding short scale bass strings can be a pain--depending on the stores around you, you may need to get them online.

But don't let deter you.

Mustang basses are cool.
