If you want to read about them go to the thread on here between myself and Hellkat on our MM's. His is a squier and mine is a Fender. There are pictures of ours on there too.

They are short scale 30", rather than the common 34". Makes for lighter weight and greater comfort if you're a guitarist, you're starting out, or you are not a tall guy with enormous hands.

The stock pickups in many MM's are just 6 pole strat pups so you might find them to be a little weak. I have replaced my failing orig one with a Seymour Duncan and it sings now. Hellkat also has a sweet looking Bronco that he upgraded the pups in. For the price of a pup upgrade you can have one that really sings without the weight of a full size P bass.

Check our our thread, we love 'em for many reasons we discuss. If you can swing the deal and it feels good to ya I say go for it!

Yeah Seymour Duncan makes a variety of pickups that sound great for most styles of music and can fit the wierdest basses and they are like he said a shortscale bass intended originally for guitar players going into a transition to bass to have some familiarization with the shorter kind of feel and they can produce some great sounds as well as the Fender Mustang bass which is very similar but yeah if it's in good condition would be a cool little bass.

Yeah, that'd be an interesting thing to know although most of them go from 350-650 depending on quality and rarity from what i've seen

thanks so far for the help guys!

i sent over payment today and should get the bass by next week!

its a '75 Musicmaster all original (including the chipped off pickguard near the jack hole)

its daphne blue...which is not the most common color from my research...i usually see dakota red, black, or white...

but the daphne blue has yellowed and now actually looks more like surf green than blue!
very very cool!

i paid roughly $575 shipped...

it is a bit on the higher side of the range but the guitar body itself...minus the pickguard chip is almost 100% clean!
plus i love love love the color...the oly white ones are cool too (i have an oly white strat) and over time it looks more yellowish-cream than white which is nice as well but the "surf green" just sings to me!

once it comes in ill post pics and go over a quick review!
i wanna mess with it for a while and see how it feels and sounds...

if i like the stock pup, pots, and caps ill keep them...if not...i have no trepidation swapping them for more "professional" components.

thats the beauty in my opinion with these basses...they are cool and vintage yet are more for the player than the collector so i dont mind not keeping it bone stock...and like others have said i feel as though itll be the friendliest intro into the world of bass guitars!
im not a bass player but wanted one for a long time to add some "depth" to my sound!
and i played some squier bronco basses to get a feel for the shorter scale and i like them alot...very sharp little instruments...

thanks for the pup ideas...i might ask for more help after i get the guitar and post pics...cause by then i should know if i want to keep the stock ones or upgrade!

hope you are all having a great day keep thumping away!

for now here are a couple of pics that i had emailed to me of the guitar...

That certainly does look green doesn't it, wierd how those age.

It looks great condition wise though so if it "sings" for you than it's a great match.

I'll be anxious to hear about how you're digging that bass once you receive it.

Funny too how so many of the pickguards broke down by the jack, I know I always put my thumb the screw that's right there, the end of the pickguard when pulling out the cable/wireless.
