I've heard that Jack Bruce had one. So did Rick Danko and John Lennon had one, too. It's on a couple of Beatles tracks. I've seen pictures and some video of John playing it. I wonder what happened to it? It's barely mentioned on any website that features his guitars that I've read so far. Maybe it's mentioned in that Beatles gear book that's been out for a long time. I'd like to get a copy of that some day and read it.

It's actually an ideal instrument for the type of music I'm playing. I think I'd like it better than playing guitar, because of the thicker strings. I've always loved the tone of it, from what I've heard of it. I guess it isn't for everybody, though.

I've been thinking about the Schecter Ultra VI as well, but I would much rather have a Fender. I love the looks of it. The Jag baritone is pretty sweet too.

How many WOULD send Fender $1500 as major down payment on a new-build run of Fender VI octave guitars, if they offered...?

"Down payment due in the next 30 days, instrument to be delivered postpaid to your choice of address after paid in full, within 120 days of receipt of down payment and shipped as soon as payment in full is received."

Just curious.

If the timetable is still the same as last time, only 10 years to go until the CS puts out their versions. I think Japan did a run in 1996? And then the CS did it in 2006.

Glad to hear the Japan is doing it again. Maybe they'll do it with the mute this time.

I would immediately do a down payment if they could get it to me in 120 days - if i didn't own one already.

I GASSED on and off since 1989 for one until I got mine in 2010.

Think we should really have access to these as they don't tread on any of the MIM/MIA product, which is usually the reason Fender don't seem to let certain Japanese reissues though - Although I do understand that the Fender Japan factory doesn't make huge amounts of guitars is another reason behind the lack of models we'll see...

But there certainly is demand to justify a limited release surely?

I'll have a Candy Apple Red, when you're ready Fender!

I've looked through the Fender Japan site and they seem to have a lot of stuff they don't offer here, unfortunately. I wish I could go to Japan with a boatload of cash and go shopping.

I agree with the idea that they could definitely find a place for this within the Classic Players series, or possibly even the Pawn Shop series now that it exists. It seems like it would find a nice fit.

Yeah, then it wouldn't cost $4000, too.

I agree. There could be a affordable version and a more professional version.

With some tasty changes: two overwound Jaguar single coils coupled to a humbucking Jazzmaster pickup and a much simpler pickup switching system. You no longer need to plunge into the dark with those complex slide switches.
