Now Rondo Music is selling a Bass VI for $399. But I would still spend up to $1200 on a Fender reissue. I think all these other companies make ugly Bass VI knockoffs 8) And they probably have poor resale value.

I just might buy the hollowbody though.

The knockoffs are pretty good "body-wise" but the headstock on that blue one is def messed up.

And what's with the description? It says 30" scale and 34" scale:

Quote:

Solid alder body and a beautiful maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets which helps deliver excellent tone and sustain
The design of the neck and adjustable roller bridge provide excellent action,
Three single coil pickups with a 5 way selector with 1 vol and 2 tone knobs.
Trus-rod adjustable neck, fully adjustable bridge and non-locking tuners
Overall length: 42"
Width at its widest point: 14 1/2"
Width of the neck at the nut: 1 3/4"; at the 20 fret: 2 1/4"
Scale length: 34"
Setup to intonate with 24 34 44 56 72 84 gauge strings

I'd like to add that Ernie Ball Music Man makes a version. And with humbuckers which is awesome. But I think it's plain looking and TOO expensive. I still would rather a fender.

Schecter makes a version called the Hellcat. But it's ugly as sin. Yet affordable.
Image
Gretsch makes the G5265 Jet Baritone tuned E-E and about 30"scale. Again ugly, but affordable.
Image
Jerry Jones makes 2 different bass6 models based on Danelectro. But they're expensive and ugly...yada yada yada.

I think there is a market for them :) Everyone makes them except FENDER

I actually like the looks of the Hellcat and the MusicMan, and I love Gretsch in general, but I was told that the Gretsch could NOT be tuned E-E, which is what I want/need. Is that true?

Let's see if we can get Fender to reissue an affordable version of the Bass VI. My only other option is to build one myself from USA Custom Guitar parts. I would much rather get a real one from the company that invented it.

I would love to see an American Standard as well as a Mexican standard. But I would be happy with either. With a few color options.

Let's see how many signatures we can get.

Count me in! I want one.

I have to ask Fender. From a business standpoint, how is it that Schecter can make The Hellcat Bass VI for $600? Enough people must be buying them in order for Schecter to keep making them.

Can't you make a MIM or MIJ Bass VI for under $1000 and do well? There seem to be a lot of people into them these days.

I have a Schecter Hellcat. It's pretty nice, but I'd prefer a Fender too. I don't like the design of the headstock on the Hellcat. But it plays really well & it has a lot of tone variations.

The Schecter's are made in Korea, which is why they are priced lower. They are not so easy to come by either, I had to track mine down on the internet & have it shipped clear across the country, even though I work 1/2 mile from the Schecter home office. They could not locate one for me. So I do not think they are selling too well. The main reason why it's hard to think of spending a grand for one is because it's not something I use everyday. I mainly record with it. I'd love it if Fender made some inexpensive Bass VI's in Mexico!

I would love to get a more affordable model.
But as the old saying goes....."You can sh** in one hand and hope in the other and see which one fills up quicker".

It is NOT true. I've owned a few 6-string basses over the years, including a Fender VI, and currently own a Jerry Jones Longhorn and a Gretsch as shown earlier in this thread. It came set up E-E and currently has LaBella Bass VI flatwounds on it.

Due to our wonderful economy and the loss of my job.....I need to change my request

Instead of a full on re-issue how about the Squier Classic Vibe line Bass VI ? Good quality and under $1000

There is no doubt these would be hard to sell for at $2000-3000, more folks would be tempted by $500-600.

My Hellcat VI is ok but compared to my instructors Bass VI through the same amp, there is no comparison. The Hellcat just lacks

An affordable bass vi would be the best thing since sliced bread.
