Hey Fender!!!!! Make this damn thing already!!!! This build will probably cost me another Tele!!! LOL

I could only imagine how good that thing sounds with reverb, or a little echo.....Hey Fender!!!! See above!!!!

The only tricky part will be the switch plate although you could use a three switch plate like a Jaguar. Someday soon I'll have a pickguard template and I'll send you a copy. Beyond that, almost everything is Jaguar, trem, bridge (technically it should have a 1" bridge but they've been building RIs with Jag bridges for years), pickups, you name it. What color are you going with?

unfinished alder.....I haven't decided color yet, but will do it myself. ( what have I done......?) I just haven't decided between Black, which almost ALL of my guitars are(purely coincidence) or something bright and metallic.

I will get my hardware from WD Music, and if you get that pickguard template, I will get my pickguard material from WD also.

I already decided on using lipstick pups, as I have a set sitting in my spare parts drawer

That sounds like a plan to me. It may be a while, like a month or two, but I do intend to remove the pickguard from my VI when I do some minor mods.

Synch, not a problem....I won't have my body for about a month. So, what do you think, Black with both chrome and gold hardware for a "Formal" look, flat black with hot rod type pinstripes and chrome hardware, or flashy metallic paint with white pearl pickguard and chrome hardware......?

In the sprirt of the instrument I'd go for flashy metallic paint and a pearl guard. The other color scheme that intrigues me for VI would be the '70s look of natural finish and a black pickguard.

I think I am going to have to make this model a standard offering in my new venture, Junk Yard Guitars. I will build this one, and send it to you Synch for critique. If it meets inspection then, and only then, will I offer to build one for others.

Let me add this one thought; playing one of these in a band is an experience like no other. The voice of a Bass VI is so full and powerful that it just permeates the music.

which is why I want one. It will be about 2 or 3 months before I finish this project as I want to make sure it is done right. All the right components, etc. and as soon as I am happy with it, I'll send it up for you to mess with for a few weeks.

I have to ask Fender. From a business standpoint, how is it that Schecter can make The Hellcat Bass VI for $600? Enough people must be buying them in order for Schecter to keep making them.

Can't you make a MIM or MIJ Bass VI for under $1000 and do well? There seem to be a lot of people into them these days.

I am first reading this now, and have never picked up a 6 string bass, seems pretty daunting. But I guess in the scheme of things it shouldn't be since I play guitar too.

And in our 3 pc lineup for the band I might be able to add some cool stuff with one of those.

I'd sure be interested, but $600 seems more doable for me than $1k.

A Schecter Hellcat, huh?
