Let's see if we can get Fender to reissue an affordable version of the Bass VI. My only other option is to build one myself from USA Custom Guitar parts. I would much rather get a real one from the company that invented it.

I would love to see an American Standard as well as a Mexican standard. But I would be happy with either. With a few color options.

Let's see how many signatures we can get.

MIM, CIJ, MIA, I'm in for it either way! 8)

I've been really close on a couple occasions to pulling the trigger on the Schecter...I'll give Fender another year or so.

Doesn't look like much interest for it. Looks like I will be building one from available parts. Warmoth is even making them soon, so I hear.

You are correct. I play both guitar and bass though. In the past I've used a 27" scale baritone tuned A-A, which I loved. I know I will love a 30" bass vi tuned E-E. There is no question in my mind. I don't want the hellcat or the Gretsch bass vi. I want a fender or fender style bass vi. Hopefully under $1500. So Fender if you are reading this... PLEASE reissue it. Even if it's frim the Mexican or Japanese shop.

What makes you say though?

You have my vote, I really want one, I would prefer a top quality re-issue. Currently I have a Hellcat VI and there's no comparison with the Fender VI.

I would buy one at a reasonable cost...no more than $1200. And then only if it were better than the other available options...I already have a Schecter Hellcat VI which is usable but not completely true to the bass VI... I will also buy the Agile VI when it comes out. I don't have the kind of extra income floating around though to justify a $3k guitar so count me out for another Custom Shop reissue. I want a guitar I can play out with not one that will hang on the wall in a display case. I'd also consider a Squier Bass VI if it weren't too cheesy.

I don't know why the demand for a "top quality reissue" when the Custom Shop Bass VI's are still readily available if you do a quick Google search for them...or buy vintage if you aren't convinced that the Custom Shop was good enough (I have no idea, never played it).

Personally before building a USACG VI I would wait and see how the Agile VI comes out...should be at a very good price point ($500-600-ish) of pretty decent quality if there other guitars that I've played are any show for it.

Add my name to the list. The problem is this, the VI is not usually a primary instrument and as such needs to be lower in cost. I love my CS VI but it was also a bit pricey. If they could bring out a Classic Player VI that would sell for around the price of a Classic Player Jag or Jazz, I think that would have the greatest market appeal. The concept of a Bass VI is great, it's a truly wonderful interest. Let's make it something affordable and spread it around. Come out with a CP VI and I'll be vrey likely to double my collection of VI-string bass/baris.

hi Synchro, by the way, the cables worked out perfectly, thanks....

I read every single post in your thread on the other forum regarding your Bass VI, and I feel for you.....but, has it been working out for you? I know that I have never played bass and I want one. Wish I could get the body and neck from the usual places and build one.

I am in for Fender to bring this back, maybe as a MIM Road Worn. RW's are poor man's Custom Shops.

Glad to hear that the cables worked out.

It's getting better. I had some amp problems that were muddying the waters and once I got past those it was a lot easier to science out the VI. I played it on a gig two weeks ago and liked the way it sounded. The only problem left is to find a better looking pickguard.

USACG makes a body and neck that will do the trick for a homebrew VI.

I have heard some say play it on a guitar amp, some say on a bass amp....have you tried that experiment yet?(he typed as he brought up a new tab to research the USACG website.....)

I have a bass amp that has some switchable EQ contuors (Genz Benz Shuttle 6) so it works perfectly for the VI. On a typical bass contour I can get a decent bass sound and on a contour that favors highs it sounds better as a baritone guitar, which is what I use it for the most. I also have a reverb pedal in front of it for getting a Surf or Spaghetti Western sound.

My guitar amp is a Twin with a closed-back cabinet and a single 15" speaker and it doesn't do justice to the VI even though it's pretty decent at the low end of the regular guitar's range.

One thing I'll say for certain about the Bass VI. It's one of the most enjoyable instruments I can imagine. I played an outdoor gig on it and used it for some instrumentals. It sounded like thunder and got a few very interested looks from the audience.
