Hello. I just grabbed this bass really cheap with a broken off input and I repaired it. It looks like a clone to me but I thought I would check since the owner thought it was old and it's pretty sturdy. Any idea about this? Thanks.

Obviously this bass has been routed for Jazz Bass pickups and has an aftermarket pickguard, a Badass bridge, and a brass nut.

But aside from that, it looks like a Fender Precision Bass. The nut width looks like 1.5", so it could be an "A" neck from a P-Bass or it could be a Jazz Bass neck.

I don't see anything that says "non-Fender" to me (aside from the modifications). The factory routing looks correct to me and the lack of red paint around the edge of the sunburst under the pickguard looks correct too.

Try posting this in the Precision Bass forum. I bet there are more P-Bass experts in that forum than this one.

Your bass appears to have aftermarket tuners, a bogus serial number plate or one from asn early ESP bass. The neck looks to be an aftermarket because of its heavy finish and no decal, but I could be wrong. Its hard to tell via pictures.

The finish and body routing is consistent with newer Fender basses that have different truss rods, which is why I am calling the neck a replacement.
The neck plate is a bogus serial number. It is not an original Fender part IMHO.

The pickups are Dimarzio Jazz bass pickups. I have a set in a Jazz bass and they are very nice.

Of course the BA type II bridge is a nice feature.
I looks like the installer of these pickups made a few goofs and needed a large pickguard to hide the mistakes.

I bet it can sound great if it doesn't already.
