Make sure wiring isn't off. I had an experienced guy put my Custom shop noiseless in (before i had learned myself) in my old MiM Jazz Bass and he really botched it to be honest wired it completely silly and I had that hummm you're talking about I found that the bridge wire was lose and not even connecting with the bridge. Along with that many other lose wires can cause that hum sound you're not liking to hear as well as that shielding the switchplate may possibly be a good idea if not done so already I also did that in addition to fixing the sloppy wiring.
