Post subject: Clipping on fender Bassman 300 pro

does anyone know if it's damaging the amp when the Input on the bassman 300 pro flashes red when clipping? im not sure if its just a notification or if its actually letting me know im damaging it lol

Clipping just means the signal is getting distorted. It shouldn't damage the amp unless you start clipping the speaker, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the red light.

Personally, I sometimes purposefully clip to get a certain tone. If you clip a lot, you'll get some solid state distortion sounds. When I say solid state distortion don't think fuzz or guitar distortion: it's more like an aggressive gritty grindy sound.

Bottom line: if you clip, don't worry.
