Thanks George. Since purchasing it I've jammed with friends a couple of times and have done one "bluegrass" type of gig with it (all electrified) and it is the greatest. The looks, the feel of the neck, the headstock design - all come together for a wonderful experience! It makes most other AEBs feel like "trucks." I've been playing a Precision in rock and roll/country bands since the 1980s, and I feel right at home with this instrument - I don't even have to think about it being a different bass guitar. My drummer loves the woody/stringy tone it can put out when we do some old timey/classic country tunes, e.g., Hank Sr., Lefty Frizzell, George Jones.

Does the part number 146196 Case for BG-29 fit the Kingman bass too? I've been considering buying one but really would like a case with it. 8)

Thanks,

I chose the Kingman because my electric Squier Precision has a similar neck and I thought it would be an easy transition between the two. WRONG!!! The Kingman is massive. So, I am learning to play all over again! Beginning with how to even hold the thing.
I did change the strings. I found the D' Addarios that it ships with a bit too "tinny" for my liking. I chose Ernie Ball "Earthwood" strings. Though they are a lighter guage...I do prefer the sound.
However, I do have a slight problem with the E string's inntonation. It is just slightly sharp. All the other strings are spot on. As I am new to playing an acoustic bass...I am cautious to start messing with it. It took a while for me to just figure out how to change the strings without doing any damage. I wonder if I may have the E string set slightly too far on the body? Any suggestions?

Hey folks... can you believe it... I am still waiting for the Fender Kingman bass case I ordered through Guitar Center in Towson, MD. The order was placed Oct. 16, 2009... it's now December 30! The store said it was a computer glitch at Fender. Hmmm, I say come on Guitar Center, come on Fender!

Did you ever get your case?

I also own a Kingman bass and have noticed that when amplified that the A and D string pick up way hotter than the E and G strings is there anything i can do to remedy this? Very nice bass but the pick up not being dialed in is very annoying.

They don't make a case for The Kingman. I've tried everywhere. I use a gig bag but would rather have a real hardshell case.
