...and like you, I am holding back on spending bucks via the plastic

I gave the wife all my cards and told her not to give them back to me until 2010. I have a problem spending money on stuff that I do not need at all. I stopped by GC the other day and bought picks. Why? I already have 500 of the same pick, and I'll use a pick about 25% of the time. I just had to buy something dammit. And they were $5.00 a pack, Dunlop Gator Grips, what's up with that?

Hehehehe, I know what you mean. I was @ GC, which I hate doing, but I was looking to see if I can buy the Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3, since 4 was coming out, but had to order...ugh, back to the local music store if I was going to order...

Personal fave church bass for Masses and services has become a bought-used-in-82 Ibanez lawsuit copy of a Gibson Thunderbird IV with bolt-on neck.

160 Masses and services to date, probaly 75% with the old Ibanez. 'Have tried Line 6 4 and 5-strings, a Precison and fretless Jazz. Go figure.

Zod, you finally bit the bullet on the G&L!! Good deal, she's a beaut!

Yeah, It is a sweet bass. I love the aggressive tone that I get from it. Definately a P-bass on steriods! Cuts thru the mix very well. My only complaint is the neck size, it just feels too small in my large-$@! hands.

A G&L SB1, single pickup bass has a neck that is very similiar to a Precision bass in that it is 1.75 " wide at the nut. The SB1 is out of production, but they are available used.

If you look carefully at th door to GC, etched into the glass very faintly , it say's, "You are obligated to buy something", then of course you always have music blasting, they have backmased it with suggestions.

I don't personally own, but some of my favorite basses are not Fenders. I think Rickenbacker 4003's are fantastic basses. Not my favorite neck, but they sound and look great.

I also really like some of the Ibanez soundgears with bartolini pickups. Very different sound than the fender, and not necessarily my "go to" sound, but definitely a pleasing sound. I also love their necks.

Speaking of Ric's I have a buddy that picked up a steal at the local GC which was a bout a mid 70's and due to a lot of electronic problems GC didn't look @ the bass so we have a mutual friend which completely corrected the electonics and it has a gibson-like "Honeyburst" finish on it making it even more delicious and even though i'm not a whole fan of the neck-through basses because of how bolt-on's have more room for the tone to reverberate and give a lot more punch this bass sounded amazing through his old bassman. Even better he got it for $500 Why didn't I think of buying this!!? =[
