Here's the interview with Mark from the Fender Archives. Says that they'll be reversing the P pup in his Sig. Bass for more string blanace then the traditional split coil sound. Also, that the new bass will be available in See-Through Blonde (maybe white blonde like the 57 RI P?), and the 50's Two Tone Sunburst.

The article's a pretty good read, he seems excited about the new bass, which is cool.

Most sig guitars have the artist's signature on the reverse of the headstock.

I doubt this'll be any different, though why you'd want a Mark Hoppus sig bass I don't know. Each to their own i suppose.

Aim to be better than your idols. Even if you think you never will surpass them, it's a healthy attitude to adopt :)

The Hoppus bass is a bit of cash, but it's a good bass for the money. The Pup upgrade and BAII bridge are nice additions. The lack of a tone knob is a bit odd to me, but otherwise I've never heard anyone complain about one.

If you can I'd try one out first, or atleast a regular P or J bass. That would give you an idea of what you'd be most comfortable with. (ie: Body Shape and Neck Profile.) You may end up not liking the J body with the P neck.

There are so many options even from the tried and true Fender styles now that you may end up wanting something more you, instead of more him. His basic tone can be gotten using any P bass outfitted with those two upgrades. The rest is strings, amp and fingers (or pick).
