Hi all... I'm new to the Fender Forum... I saw an older Telecaster Bass today I was interested in at an really large antique/flea market/thrift show in Mt. Dora, FL. It was very used with expected ware and tear for a 35 year old instrument & in what appeared to be the original case. The vendor was asking $1,600 for it. He thought it was a '73. First of all, what's the value of it, second of all, what would be a realistic offer that I should make tomorrow, assuming that it's still there?

I know this post is old-but for the sake of informing anyone still interested, the answer to this question depends on a number of factors.
If the case and the finish are original and the bass should have a single humbucking bass pickup at the neck if its a 1973.
The bass could be worth the asking price. It may be worth more depending on what else is good or bad about the bass.
Is the headstock decal intact?
Are the frets in good shape?
Is the neck straight?
Is the bullet truss rod still functioning?
Any modifications of problems will negatively impact the value of any instrument.
