I'm at work, and on saturday's it's really slow. I run my department and I'm all by myself on Saturday.

My girlfriend called an said she had something for me, My band's playing tonight so I have my gear at work because I don't have time to run home after work.

She and a friend went out to garage sales. She picked up a 1983 or 84 Squier MIJ Bullet Bass in black.

It was some older people that had it, belonged to a son 25 years ago, who never got the hang of playing it.

She paid $40.00 for it :D :D :D :D Then she stopped by one of the pawnshops and bought me a used "Coffin" case for $40.00 .

I'm boiling out the strings in the breakroom as I type, I'll restring it and use it tonight.

I plugged it in, the strings were kinda dead but don't have time to grab a set til tomorrow. The boiling them for 30-45 minutes should help til then

I can't believe how nice it is. I don't have a digital camera, so I can do a picture.

There are a few light scratches no dents or dings.

It has a really nice neck, the frets look new :D

The neck is a little thincker than my 87 MIJ P-Bass, make a nice matched set. Looks like my Jazz Bass will be in the case for the night.

I'm a happy guy

Very cool find...

Just make sure the strings (if they are round-wound) are not to banged up...otherwise they will help wear out the frets faster.

I know you don't want to buy strings that cost more than the bass, though you can find some pretty decent strings on sale.

If the strings are not dented, just dirty...never mind. :)

Otherwise, enjoy your Fender bass.

I re-strung it with Ernie Ball Roundwounds .050-.105, plays great, It had the original strings on it, boiling them out helped but they felt sticky afterwards. I had a gig after work and didn't have time to hit the music store for new ones, so I hit the lunch room and found a kettle to boil them out with on the 2 burner micro stove
