Ok, so i bought this bass for about 3 years ago. But my problem is that i cant find any model name neither on it or in any of the papers that came with it. All i know is that its mexican and produced in 03/04. I think it was only in production for a short amount of years.

That looks like a Fender MB-5 to me.

There was also a MB-4 four string.

Thats no MB-5 they were made in 1994-95 and they had 5 tuners on one side.

When I did an image search on Fender MB-5 I got a whole lot of pictures that look like the one above.
http://images.google.ca/images?q=Fender%20MB-5&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

When I did a web search it kept mentioning that it was made in the 90's.

So some possibly conflicting info.

However the 90's ones I came across online look the same--isn't it possible that Fender made them again in Mexico?

I'm not saying they did, just asking--isn't it possible?

We need someone with more inside info to clarify things.

Maybe my memory wrong I thought MB-5's were made in the mid 90's
and looked different then that.

The info I found says they were--but maybe they were made again.

It wouldn't be the first time for something like that.

Just checked my collection of Fender catologs Squire made a MB-5 Modern
Bass with a 3/2 tuners and a Agathis body thats what this guitar is it has been made since 2002. Fender made a MB-5 in 1994-95 as part of its JP/MB series the Jp's had Poplar bodies and the MB's had Basswood bodies. So the one being asked about is a Squier MB-5 not a Fender MB-5.

Yes, there was a Squier MB-5 made in this decade, but it said Squier on the headstock.

The headstock of the original picture in this thread says Fender, not Squier.

I believe it's a '90s Fender MB-5.

Just because the original poster says he "knows" it was built in Mexico in 2004 doesn't necessarily mean those are facts. Maybe he bought it from someone who told him that.

Since the original poster has only made 1 post as of this writing, I doubt he has even come back to see if anyone has replied.

If you're reading this, Fuglestad, can you please provide the first four letters/numbers of the serial number of your bass? We don't need the whole serial number.

I am guessing he got the date from the serial numbers since he stated not only the year but the month. in his post. :?: Also I believe the Mid 90's Fenders were made in Japan not Mexico if I am remembering correctly but I will check that out to be sure.

I do remember that Squier instruments used the large Fender logo instead of the Squier logo for some time during the 90's , if I'm not mistaken.

What you have there is a Fender Dimension bass V, also came in a four string version, but for the price I can't understand why you would buy the four string???
I love mine, its the amber color, I am actually trying to find what out what Dimarzio pickups would actually fit this particular bass, so its your turn if you know please pass it on.

Thanks, new world man. I googled Fender Dimension Bass V and found some pictures that look just like the bass posted here.

I'll have to dig out my old Frontline catalogs and read about this one. I don't remember this model at all.
