Hello, I have a '08 Fender Mustang. I'm a small person with small hands, so this bass is perfect. My trouble is with the lack of attack and tone. What do I need to do? How can I get more out of my bass?

As much as a lot of manufacturer claims about how great the tone of their product, it doesn't help us(consumers) if our amps/rigs aren't of good quality. To get better tone, some people like to use pedals/effect, or eq their bass. What kind of amp do you play your bass through?

Well sepending on your amp that could be the problem but a boost pedal might do the trick. It might not be what you are looking for it is deffently a try before you buy.

When players cite lack of attack and tone on a Fender bass, I have to ask them to take a good look at their technique.
When playing bass , you must cleanly pluck a bass string so that it vibrates across the magnetic feild of the pickup. A strong two finger right and plucking style is best or the use of a heavy pick will get you plenty of attack provided the bass has new roundwound strings and you have a decent amplifier to play through.

Have a good bassplayer demonstrate his technique to you if you don't understand.
