Just picked up a 1976 Fender Mustang bass. The neck is pretty straight, but it has virtually no downward bow, so the frets buzz sometimes.

I have the truss rod maxed out in the most counter-clockwise position (which I believe makes the neck bow down, away from the strings, correct me if I'm wrong). But it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Is it possible the truss rod is broken or something? Is it an easy fix? Maybe I could just put some kind of lock-tite or something on it, thread it, let it sit, and re-try?

I just got this thing. Bah.

Neck adjustments take a little time for you to see. Just loosen it a little and wait . Keep the strings in tune! also chek string action too!

I would take it to an authorized fender service place since it is a new bass. Don't mess with it and mess it up worse. If you are in Maryland, I would recommend Doug Lewis at "Fair Repair" 410-760-3353
