Hello,

Does anyone make a flatwound Bass VI string set?
What do you use on your Bass VI?

'Have never heard of a Bass VI flats set but it would be easy to make up from loose stock.

And likely add more to the VI's incredible tenor saxaphone character.

If memory serves, .025, .035, .045, .055, .075, .095

Best of fortune and tell us how it sounds. The Bass VI is in this opinion the most 'undiscovered' guitar around.

Yes, I own a Fender Jaguar Baritone Custom. I only use La Bella Electric Fender Bass VI Flat Wound, .026 - .095, 767-6F. You can aquire them from JustStrings. Let me tell you, they may be expensive but absolutly worth it. They will last you for years if you keep them clean. I have tried several differnt flat wounds and these are the best. It really gives the Jag a unique sound. Very Spaghetti Western, 60's spy movie sound. It's totally awesome. The only thing is the 6th string ball doesnt go into the slot so it sticks out. It doesn't really matter since it never goes out of tune.

These Fender Jaguar Baritone Customs are so well made! I can't believe they discontinued them. The only logical explination I have is so people will spend the big bucks on their Fender VI re-issue. I wouldn't be surprised if the re-release this model one day.

In many ways I liked my Jag Bari better than my VI. It had a great sound, even with the stock strings. The workmanship was tremendous. I just wish that they had made them with a 30" scale. If they had, IMHO it would have been every bit as good if not better than a Bass VI (and I've owned both).

So are you saying that if your Jag Bari was made with a 30" scale then it would be better than a VI? I'd have to agree with you there. I really like the Jag Bari but at the moment it just can't compete with a VI.

IMO, having owned both I would prefer the Jag Bari over the VI if it had a 30" scale.
