Recently, I bought a De Armond Ashbory Bass, based on the old Guild design. I had played a Guild some years ago and it stuck in my head. Anyway, I've seen websites slamming this little wonder saying that it's only good as a toy, or for kids, etc. These folks can jam it! I CAN get a stand up sound from this with a decent amp and a bit of reverb.
Actually about the only problems I have with this bass are the fact that the machine heads could be higher quality and the Ultra Boring all-black hardware....Guys, it's called contrast...it shows cleverness...

Anyway, if you're used to a 34' scale you're going to have to essentially re-learn how to play on the Ashbory. It's a different instrument all together, but like a good sportscar, gives alot to anyone who takes the time to learn how to play it.

Thanks for bringing back a classic, Fender!

...Now how about some parts for my '66 Bass V and how about having Squier make a "Squier VI" (6-string bass/baritone guitar)?
