Does anybody else in the U. K. own a Special edition Jaguar Bass VI custom 025-9400-300 ? How can I get strings for it? Part number 073-5350-001? (The strings for the other Fender Bass VI with the wang bar wont fit.) FENDER websites say try your dealer, then thedealers say try the Net. (Ive tried more than one) Fender dealers have said in confidence that Fender are "terrible for parts". As a friend of mine has just found out, if you want to buy an expensive amp, fine Fender will accept your money, but if you want the footswitch, too bad. thyis is my first experience as afender owner and you can tell its been a major disappointment. Does anyone know of another make of strings that will fit? The scale length is twenty eight and a half inches , but i need 32" of wound string ,or just under to clear tailpiece but not foul the (guitar sized) machineheads. Icould use guitar strings for the top four, but the E needs to be about gauge .095 , and the A about gauge .075. I cant be the only one who has had this problem,so I hope somebody out there can suggest a fix.Thanks.

James.....www.juststrings.com has nickle wound steel in custom sizes for your bass listed under their house brand under bulk strings. I have ordered two sets and they are wonderful. Good service too. Good Luck.

First of all , thank you Harley, Ill try the website you suggest. Meanwhile,I had left a deposit with a local fender dealer , quite a big firm with branches all over. Since my last posting, they have had two separate lots of the wrong strings delivered. ( I.E. strings for a Fender bass VI ). I realise that this is not the fault of Fender , but it shows how poorly this product has been supported. Its a shame, cos its a nice instument in many ways.

Same problems getting strings. The Erney Ball website lists two sets of baritone string sets. The heavy gauge set worked on my jag. .090 - .020 gauge, I think 29 5/8 scale. I found 1 pack at a local store. I ordered 2 packs from the website. Still waiting for delievery (1 week). I'm hoping!

its Christmas come early ! I am now the happy owner of three sets of the correct Fender strings,a lifetmes supply cos us bluesmen dont change strings too often. The strings come in a blue packet with a picture of a 4string bass head and a string with a bullet end. The strings have A (NEW ??) PART NUMBER, 072-5350-+Guage of string e.g. 095.Thats to say there seems to be a number for each string even tho they come as a set, called Jagaur baritone custom strings SS 25-95.This brings up the whole question of what defines a baritone. a bassVI, and a " 6-string bass" In answer to wmmay... thanks for replying, if you tune from B-B or A-A half an octave below aguitar-what Id call Baritone, then a guitar amp is fine. If you tune E-E an octave below a guitar - what Id call bassVI - or lower - well then you need a bass speaker cabinet, altho your guitar amp head will sound fine
