It's time to have an Olympic White Mustang PJ.

There was $58. off of it's regular price. It's new, not a return, or a floor model.

Sometimes, you can get good deals like that. AMS has stuff all of the time. I'm hoping they'll get some more discounted Ampeg SVT-7 Pro heads in again. Then again, I haven't been able to sell the Orange, so I guess it doesn't matter right now.

Like I probably said before, the Ampeg SVT-7PRO is a very good head. One of the few higher wattage heads that has a headphone jack onboard.
This Mustang PJ has a Fender Special Edition decal on the back of the head. I've seen some listings around with some of the Orange Mustang PJ's as a limited special run. I'm going to call Fender Customer Relations to get the poop on it.

That's actually pretty handy that the Ampeg has a headphone jack on it. I could have used that with the Orange head, so I could use it for silent recording, but I wound up getting the MXR Bass Preamp pedal to use for that. Now, I've been using the MXR with the Orange, for extra EQ options with the violin bass, live. By the way, the last gig was the first time I've ever used the DI jack on the Orange, that's built in the side of it. From what I could hear, it works pretty good.

You think the whole Mustang series is going to be limited edition, then? I can see that it says "Special Edition" on the back of the headstock, from the product page. It doesn't mention anything about that, elsewhere, though. I guess they'll let you know.

That's what made me look into the 7-PRO back then.
I don't know why it has the decal on it. I saw another with a decal too.

They do often do short runs on certain things, so who knows if that means that, or just a fancy way to describe it.
I just got a newsletter from Fender about that Rumble Stage 800. https://shop.fender.com/en-US/bass-ampl ... es&start=1
It's the same price as the Ampeg SVT 7 Pro (new, at least.) That's something I have to consider, since there are a lot of things that I like about both.

Myself, I'd go with the 7-PRO. The 7-PRO is a 1,000 watts @ 4 ohms.

I think you're right, since I'm not really sure if I want to commit to all of the bells and whistles, even though I do like some effects and things like that. I'm wondering how road worthy it will be, too. Studio is one thing, but being in clubs and concert halls are something else. I really just need a good EQ section to work well with the violin bass, and enough headroom to project it.

I still look at some gear as, it has more sections of it to have a problem. The simpler, the better. The power is always a push for a better sound, weather in a practice room, or Madison Square Garden. My Ampeg head with 100 watts is more power than i need, but the tone being pushed by tube power blows me away. Back to a sometimes negative issue for gigging with a combo, if a vital part has a failure, you're down, and out. Component gear is still the safest. Sorry, just me rambling on.

I think you're right about the component thing. Sure, combos do have the convenience of all in one carrying, but as compact as my Orange head and Fender cab are, it's roughly the same size (albeit, I have a 4 x 10" speaker setup instead of the typical combo 2 x 10" one, but there have been a few 4 x 10" combos out there from time to time,) and if something goes down, it would be only part of rig, not the whole thing, and probably easier to replace, or fix.

Hell, it can go either way. It's a crap shoot at best.

The Mustang PJ Showed up this morning. Sweetwater packed it one of their inner cartons, and then that into a heavier outer shipping carton. It is in pristine condition. They packed the wrenches, head tag, and Fender paperwork in a plastic bag. Away from the bass, and the bass was packed in very heavy bubble wrap. I did well by doing this one.
