So I got a MIJ Fender Jaguar Bass, all stock, that I bought used a couple years ago. It's an all around great bass and plays phenomenal. The one gripe I have is that when I don't have my hands resting on the string, there's this crazy buzzing that occurs. I'm not sure how to go about fixing it so hopefully one of you guys can help.

All buzz issue are same in no active pickups bass. For active ; good luck

You have a ground missing or bad ground in the bass electronic

It could be a cold solder in electronic ( pots , output jack)
Or a bad output jack
Bridge ground wire ; Bad contact with bridge

Post picture of your bass electronic

You must do your test with bass plugged directly in the amp , no pedal or accesoiries

The MIJ Jaguar service diagram seems to be found only via the webarchive.com and a talkbass.com page, Fender has lost it at that disastrous, catastrophic, not-customer-friendly (etc...) webpage renewal a couple years ago.
Here's a link, hope it works: http://web.archive.org/web/201509051631 ... B_SISD.pdf

On the main issue (actually, it's 'noise' as in something electric, not 'buzz' as in something setup related), I answered this on the OP's Strat topic ( https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php ... 1&start=15 ) :
Quote:
On your Jag Bass, if you have a buzz that stops when you touch the strings, that tells that the grounding works. So I'll guess the buzz is most likely some electrical interference. Might get somewhat better with shielding, but first check what electrical appliance could be the cause - turn gidgets off one by one. Oh, and the first check: you are using a grounded wall outlet for the amp, right?

Now, (once again saying I'm no electrical wizard) that bolded part is what I was taught by wiser friends w-a-y long ago, and it hasn't been proven wrong in any of the instruments I've done work with...
