Well, you never know, you might have another chance at one down the road, if you want to. Speaking of basses that we got rid of, I was recently listening to some music, that I played bass on with my girlfriend, which I recorded with that Squier Precision I had, and I have to say after listening to it in the mix, I'm kind of regretting selling it. Not to knock my Ibanez, since it does play great, but there's something how a Precision does sit in a mix, even a Squier model. It just has a certain presence to it. Maybe it's the Fender pickups, with the particular shape and density of the model. The reason I sold it was because I was used to playing the violin bass, and that was bugging me at the time. I guess I should have just tried to adapt to it better. Oh well, what can you do?

That's ironic that you mention that. Because I said about the same thing about adapting to a bass, and keeping it. If I would have done that, I still would've had my original Hofner 500/1'64.

Yeah, like they say hindsight is always 20/20. What's even more annoying is I have an Ampeg now, and P Basses work really well with those. I did remember it did sound pretty good even with the Orange head. I didn't really need to mess with it too much like I did with the violin bass. Probably because of the pickup differences. I just had some issues with the 18" speaker, because you need to really push that thing, which I couldn't really do in the room I was playing in.

18's Are that way, needing power to push them for the sounds. More volume. The Violins though, are really great! They have a style all of their own, as compared to a dime a million Jazzes, or Precisions.

That's true. It may be famous because of who used it, but it's not a common one, like a Jazz or Precision. I've never seen one in a shop, but I haven't been in shops in a very long time.

I've seen Orange guitar heads, but not bass heads.

I guess they weren't a big bass thing to begin with, like Marshall wasn't or isn't. Of course, you know back in the day, if anything, it was multipurpose amps. I guess if there was a "bass" model, they'd just remove the reverb section, and call it that. :P

That was the pretty much the fix all for that. I never could understand why Jim Marshall didn't do more to turn out bass amps. His basic design for his POWERFUL WALL OF SOUND, was based on the Fender Bassman Amp. Unless, they were so behind on filling orders for 6 six stringer guitar Marshalls.

I don't know, either. Maybe that was the case. I guess guitar was the dominant market for them, especially when you had companies like Ampeg coming out with the SVT and all of that stuff, which was designed to be suited for bass production.

Back then, Sunn, and Kustom were getting to be a player in the bass amp usages as well.

That's true, and a lot of those amps are still around and working, especially the Kustom ones. I guess they built them really well.

Kustoms were built very well. For their price, they were the working players amps.

Yeah, and they certainly had a distinctive style to them, as well.

They sure did, but those were incredible amps. One of the best I always thought.

They're still around, just not by those original people. Kind of like Acoustic is now. From what I've seen, they're not too shabby, either. I guess random mom and pop shops will carry them, and Guitar Center used to, but I'm not sure if they still do. You can probably order them from Amazon.com, as well, or eBay, which is usually affiliated with those random shops in the first place.

You know, even though I don't really need it, it would be kind of cool to have one of those to mess around with. You know, some old school vibes. The guitarist that we've played with last year has two of them at his rehearsal space in Boston. I've played the Orange head through the Kustom 2 x 15" cab he has, when I was there. There's also a 3 x 15" cab, and I think two different heads, a 200 and 250 model. He also has some PA stuff, and a 4 x 10" cab from them. When was the last time you've even played through Kustom, back in the day?
