I wonder if it even has the same pickups in it? I do believe the Squier has Fender pickups in it. I should look that up and see what's under the hood.

They very well could be the same.

All it says on the website specs is it's a Fender-Designed Split Single-Coil Precision Bass and Fender-Designed Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups. That doesn't say much at all then, as far as that goes.

Which means it's OEM from some manufacturer or other. They often say that about their bass speakers, and those are typically Eminence, aren't they?

I don't think Fender uses anything but Eminence in any amps. Different level grades of Eminence, the Neo for example. I also believe Ampeg uses nothing but Eminence in any amps. They use USA Eminence in the Ampeg Heritage series. Having used the original B&C speakers in MarkBass, and the B&C spinoffs, Eminence is getting to be my speaker of choice.

I was a huge fan of Celestion, but they posted something really stupid on their social media account that put me off to the brand. Basically, it was a dumb post slagging off a band (like the worst band in the world, or some crap like that,) and I thought that was totally unprofessional, and not the brightest way to sell your product. Imagine if this band actually used their speakers and they saw that post. I wouldn't think that would go too well. How would you feel about that, if they did that to you? I mean getting a bad album review is one thing, but this different since they are in the business to make and sell you a product. My dad had a saying, don't $@!& where you eat. I don't know, do you think that's being petty thinking that's not a cool thing to do, no matter if you like the band or not?

That's Bizarre! It wouldn't make me want to use their product. They aren't the only speakers on the market. I guess that's the Britt's way. If Jensen is still on the market, Jensen, and Eminence are excellent speakers. To Bad JBL isn't available any longer for bass speakers.

There's still Jensen, and they still make bass speakers: https://www.jensentone.com/bass-speakers
Yeah, you're also right, they aren't the only speakers on the market. I'd assume that JBL would make at least replacement speakers for the PA cabs they do make, but I guess you'd have to contact their customer service. They don't seem to show that on their site.

It's good to see Jensen is still in the bass amp speakers market. If JBL is in fact no longer available for Bass speakers, that's a shame. They were at one time up there with the other top big amp speakers. Eminence does seem to be the most used I guess, at this time.

EV was another one that doesn't seem to make the replacement speakers anymore, or at least from what I could find out on their website. There's an EV Force 10 speakers in that 1982 Super Champ I have at the house. That was an upgrade that came included in the amp. It's actually a 150 watt PA speaker, and the amp itself is 18 watt all tube. I can play a bass through it cranked and it won't blow the speaker. It vibrates the hell out of the amp enclosure, though. That little box probably wasn't intended to run bass frequencies through it.

Those Jensens aren't actually that old. They came out with that series a couple of years ago, at the most. It's pretty cool they have a 12" speaker replacement option, as well.

That's another company that still exists, but it's like JBL and EV, with the products they put out now. They all do the home audio and portable audio stuff, too.

Altec's were one of the higher priced speakers at that time. Electro Voice were about even with Altec's on price also.

Sometimes, you can find some old ones out there that are in good shape, or sometimes you can get them reconed. Whether or not any of that is worth it, since there is so much new stuff out there, is up to you, I suppose. I guess if you have a vintage amp and want to keep it authentic to the time period.
