I think it might have been a similar name to this one.

It probably was similar to it.

It does look like it, other than the different finishes. I think these might be cheaper than that one was, though. I hope they keep these around for awhile, maybe for the next couple of years. I know basses aren't their priority, though.

Unfortunately you're Right On about Gibson, and their basses. Over the years, QC has scared away many players from them. I'll be the first to admit, they are capable of turning out some of the finest basses, and in the Gibson tradition, the price is up there. But then again Rickenbacker, Fender, and other American manufactured basses have that same 'sticker shock' price tag as well.
Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass. I do remember the DC was part of the name.

I suppose $999.99 isn't too bad for a Gibson bass, considering it's made in the US, which usually means more than that, depending on what it is. I've seen some boutique basses go for $7000 and even higher. I looked and it's the same bass, at least with the name and shape. The older one they had was $1229, and had two pickups, instead of one. I found an article from 2011 from Premier Guitar about that one. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/ ... ass_Review I haven't looked yet to see if there's anything about the new one.

That's the one. It was basically an SG Std. with a different slab body. I thought about getting one back then, but I passed on on it.

Well, they got these new ones out now, at least.

You even get four different finish options, which isn't too bad, especially for them.

It's a bit of a jab though, for $1,000 Buckeroos, and only a gig bag. It wasn't that long ago that the SG Spl. @ $750. came in a Gibson case.

True, but then again Fender does the same thing for $1000, as well. I guess they got to cut corners somewhere. Wow, they had one for that, and a case? Who did that, Sam Ash?

Noooooooo, that was from Gibson at the time. The SG Spl. was an American made bass. It was the faded Mahogany finish, just the dots on the fretboard, no pearl inlays. The Nitro finish on a Gibson is done all by hand, and involves a lot of man hours to apply each coat.

I meant that was available from Sam Ash? I remember the bass you're talking about. You had it a couple of times.

That's a hell of a deal for $750, plus a case for it, though. You probably won't see that again, unless you're lucky, I suppose.
