The bass pups do somewhat make, or break a bass.

That they can, besides playability.

That silly playability does get into the mix as well. And we're not even mentioning amps, etc.

It is an interesting situation bringing Amps into the playability issues.

Well, I suppose it doesn't matter a hell of a whole lot how your bass is going to play, if your amp sounds like crap. Then again, maybe it does, because even if you have a good amp, that doesn't help you if you have to struggle to play the bass. It's best if you have a good combination of the two, obviously.

Yeah, it is a balance of the two. Some players though like the sound they get, even if one, or both of the two aren't quite up to par.

Then again, that can change with your mood, or something else. Some people are always looking for something else, even though they might like something at the time. That's why there is things like GAS, too.

It's a vicious cycle of new, or this is the sound I'd like, or want. I know for sure, there are times when I reflect back on a bass from the past, and do a comparison between what I have now, and what I had before to get whatever I'm looking for.
I know it maybe totally off the wall, but getting the AC Jazz is for me the better of the two, between the AC, and GL.

That's interesting, since you've typically gravitated towards the Geddy Lee Jazz the most. I didn't even realize they were still making the Adam Clayton bass, though.

I've been contemplating the AC Jazz move back to one for some time now. Then when I stated back to a similar Jazz neck on the Player Jazz, it somewhat sealed the move back to the AC from the GL. For my hand, and fingers the AC is a finer feel.

I've been thinking about a Jazz, off and on. I was watching something about Aston "Family Man" Barrett, the bassist for the Wailers, who backed Bob Marley, and played on a ton of reggae songs, and he uses a Jazz strung with custom order Fender flats. I have to say what a hell of a bass sound he gets with that thing. If I can get another Jazz, I'd want one with a maple board, though.

Interestingly enough, they have a Squier model that looks like the one he has, which I'm assuming is probably from the 70's, since he did have it back then, as well.

Yeah, I think so, too. I know it's a Squier, and not a Fender, but I have had relatively good luck with those, and I do like that inlay on that.

It's a thin line, Squier / Fender. It's still a tough looking Fender backed bass.
