Yeah, the one I had was actually a nice example. Maybe I should have held on to it, I don't know. I really don't regret getting rid of it, because I did get something that played just as well. I did get the Precision bass, which sometimes wish that I kept on to, but then I sold that to get the Ibanez Talman, which was better suited for me because of being used to the violin bass. Now that I straightened out the fret buzz issue, the Ibanez has been playing sweet.

I do have a theory why that bass developed a buzz, when it didn't have one, because I noticed it also happened with the violin bass, and another one I didn't mention, after I used it, the Ibanez CT series bass. This happened the next day after I used it. I mean really bad to where the first couple of frets were fretted out. I had it sitting out on a chair in another room, and put it back in it's bag last night, and the bad buzz was gone, which fueled my theory.

In my office, I have this Planet Waves clamp with a guitar hanger hook thing on it, which is clamped to the table next to me. Each bass I've had fret buzz issues with I've had resting in that rig, and the office is very drafty there to the point I've had to stuff towels down on the floor to try and keep some of the cold air from blowing up, I think from the basement. It's an old house from 1882, so there's 1882 issues.

I haven't kept any bass in that rig, although I do have the Ibanez resting against the table next to it, and so far it's been OK. Maybe from the way it was hanging against there and the weather cause the necks to shift to where they cause fret buzz? It's really strange how the CT bass just fixed itself from me having it resting on a chair in the living room. I really don't know what to make of it.

Simple, it's wood. As you know, wood gets affected by temperature, and humidity pretty quickly, for good or bad. Is the CT maybe be in a more centralized part of our house?

It's mainly been in a side room on the first floor of the house, in a gig bag. It wasn't exposed to any drafty windows, or other openings. It certainly was odd what happened to it. I'm thinking it had to do with something being in the office in that brace holder overnight. Every bass I've had an issue with has been in there. I also keep the Rumble in there, but luckily it hasn't had any issues, knock on wood. I have the Tele there, as well, but that has never had any issues. It does have a maple fret board on it, if that makes a difference.

You're Tele's a 6 stringer, with a shorter neck if that could affect, or not affect anything on it.

That's true, and it may have a different type of wood in it, if that matters or not. I've never tweaked a truss rod on a guitar, just a bass, come to think about it.

I would almost think it's the length of a basses neck, than the wood type of the neck.

I suppose that might play into it. There's also higher string tension, perhaps, because of the thicker strings? Then again, there's typically four of those, compared to six, not factoring in all of the other types for each instrument. I'm sure a 12-string guitar has a lot of tension on a neck, that sort of thing.

String tension could be part of it.

Either that, or it's gremlins that come out of hiding when no one's around to mess with your stuff. :P

That sounds like the most believable to happen.

Yeah, especially after drinking a few too many, and some Thai stick. :P

Or just some flash backs from the 60's. Image

There were so many choices for that.
