I think you're right about the component thing. Sure, combos do have the convenience of all in one carrying, but as compact as my Orange head and Fender cab are, it's roughly the same size (albeit, I have a 4 x 10" speaker setup instead of the typical combo 2 x 10" one, but there have been a few 4 x 10" combos out there from time to time,) and if something goes down, it would be only part of rig, not the whole thing, and probably easier to replace, or fix.

Hell, it can go either way. It's a crap shoot at best.

That's true, too. I suppose the simpler it is, the less that can go wrong, though. As fun as all of that tech can be (I can sound like a HiWatt, Ampeg, or the exact sound of "One Of These Days" by Pink Floyd with the Fender's effects and modeling unit,) that does increase the risk of having issues. I might not be able to get all of those sounds, but I can at least get my own sound with what I have, which is probably more important in the first place. I suppose if I were covering Pink Floyd or Rush and wanted to sound authentic, then that would be ideal, because it's all right there. Really, I just need a simple, powerful amp with enough EQ options to make my violin bass sound good in a live environment.

That's pretty cool. 8) It looks like you got a good deal with that bass. It also looks like a nice companion piece along side the Jazz bass, like it was part of a set together.

Thanks Paul. Funny you mention that. I was looking at you signature the other day, and I was thinking along the same lines of your three. That Tele is the coolest sounding 6 stringer.

Yeah, I did ok on the PJ. It really is as SW said on the description of it as an open box, no carton. (new, excellent condition) Not even any blemishes. They put the papers, wrenches, and head tag in their shipping carton too. I really didn't think I'd get that stuff too. The PJ's may not be a total Precision for sound, but they're close enough for me. If it has a Precision pup on it, it should like you say compliment the two Jazzes.

Yeah, the Squiers that I have do match up. The funny thing about that, was it wasn't intentional. It just happened to be the available finish when I got each one. Originally, the Jazz only came in sunburst, but they released other finishes later on. The Telecaster also came in black, and the Precision came in Lake Placid Blue, and Candy Apple Red, but they didn't have those, especially the one I got for a discount. If I could have, I think I would have gotten it in the blue, since I've never had a blue instrument. I've had a couple of red ones, though.

Yeah, from what I can see, it looks like you got it straight from the box, brand new. I've gotten deals like that, too. Most of the time, it's just because they opened the box up, or something like that. It's a good way to get a great deal, that's for sure.

SW has another Olympic White Mustang PJ as a DEMO price. It has a small ding in the front of head, above the truss rod hole, and it seems to be behind the D string. $516.99. The bass had to angled to the side to photo the ding. It it were straight on, the ding may not be seen. As it is. it's a very slight ding.

They are out of stock on the Capri Orange, with more on the way.

I just played for a good 45 minutes. The frets are dressed so nice. A real ROAD REX APPROVED! A keeper for sure. The kinda' bass I want to have handy, just to pick up, and PLAY! Great Deal! Image

Cool deal. 8) That's good you were able to get one that plays like that and you don't have to mess with it.

I don't have the funds to get anything right now, but that doesn't sound like a bad deal. I wonder if anyone else is carrying the orange models, I should check AMS.

I think the Capri Orange is a standard color on the Mustangs now. It's a pretty cool color overall.
The frets are really dressed fine. The Fender guys did a better on the Mustang, than the Gibson guys did on the SG Std. The SG Std. was good, but comparing the two, the Mustang is a bit more polished so to speak.

That's kind of sad, considering how much more the Gibson costs in comparison. I really hope they get their act together, especially since they're having financial issues.

That's one of the major contributing factors to Gibson's financial issues. Quality, and high prices, partially due to labor costs. The same thing was a looming factor too the Colt Firearms Company. The issue Colt had to deal with, the firearms were built by members of the United Autoworkers Union, and higher prices from labor costs.

The Fender Mexican Jose's, seem to do as nice, or better than the Fender American Jose's do. On Fender rep. I spoke to a few years ago about something said, What difference does make weather it's made by Jose here, or Jose in Mexico?

That's true, there is all of that to factor in. The funny thing about the US and Mexican Fenders is there is only something like a 150 mile difference between both locations, to begin with. The only difference is the flag flying outside the building, if there is one.

And some of the parts are different. I would think the electrical parts may be a bit different in my MIA Jazzes I have over the MIM Mustang. The neck, and the adjustment rods.

I remember that one series they had that were made in the US, but had made in Mexico parts, so they were cheaper. I think those were out around 10 years ago, or so. I'm having a brain fart on the name, at the moment.

Was it maybe the Highway One series?
