It will be interesting to see what differences there will be between the two Gibsons, if any.

You know Paul, that's what I'm thinking two. The only obvious difference right now is a Mahogany Cherry vs. a Mahogany Walnut finish body. Both will be strung with D'Addario ETB92M Nylons. The rest will be from the factory. I'm honestly believing the SG Std. is a real killer short scale with the twin Humbuckings on board. These pups are wound like the old traditional style Humbuckings. I left the Bassman set from the Fenders. When I plugged in the SG Std., I had to back off the volume on both pups to just about, or under 2. It sounds more like an active power sound without the batteries. I forget what the voltage going into the bass from Humbuckings, but there is a serious input voltage happening here.

It sounds like a real powerhouse bass. 8) I guess you'll find out for sure when you get the other bass and put it though the paces.

One difference will be the bell shaped truss adjustment cover may be a blank black cover on the Walnut, unless I can locate one. I changed out the one I have with a stamped SG cover. Gibson isn't turning out any SG stamped covers. I'm going to try SA to see if they have any.

I went onto eBay, and found one SG stamped cover. Uplanderguitars had one left, so I snagged it for the Walnut SG Std.

Sounds good. So when are you suppose to get the walnut bass?

The Walnut SG should show up on Monday the 13th. Monday is going to be a bizzy day, so I'll just have time to take it out of the carton, look it over, and close the case until Tuesday.
From the way it looks, both the SG cover, and the ETB92M strings should be in on Saturday the 18th.

I ordered two extra sets of ETB92M strings. They're on sale, so now is the time to acquire those. A little less complicated with both SG Std.'s using the same strings.

Sounds good on the strings, especially if you get them on sale. I'm going to be busy on Monday, too. I got a concert to go to and we know one of the bands playing, so we'll be hanging out backstage and all of that sort of thing. You know, music networking stuff and all of that.

The backstage is a great meeting place. It keeps things in it's place without too many distractions. I like backstages myself. There was a calming feel to it.

The Walnut showed up this morning at 9:30 AM, at the Fed Ex office. I got it home, and just had a few minutes to get it out of the cartons. The bass is fine in it's case. I did wipe it down, and gave it an eye over. Really nice well finished SG Std. Now I'm just waiting on the ETB92M's, and the SG rod cover.

I got in the strings, and the SG cover late today. The strings, and cover are on the SG Walnut. I should be able to do pics tomorrow.
