It looks better than it did online at SW. The Pau Ferro is nice, with the Olympic White. I do love Olympic White on a Fender Bass. A nice trim 8.0 pounds even. And the frets are very nicely dressed. Image

Tomorrow will tell the tale of that one. I've been doing everything, but getting into being able to run power through it. I'm also hoping my strings show up tomorrow.

That would be good if they do, so you can put that thing through it's paces.

The strings didn't show up yet, so I powered it up anyway. Damn if it doesn't sound good. The selector switch is nice, and tight. No slop in it at all. The Pau Ferro played great, I thought anyway. The frets are dressed better than most Gibson basses, and some higher priced Fenders. It felt good playing this short scale. I would highly recommend it. One of the lowest priced Fender basses, either MIA, or MIM for that matter. MIM Fenders are getting better all the time, I have two now, they're well with the price, and then some.

I can't wait to get those short Nylons on this Mustang PJ. It really is a smooth player.

That sounds cool. 8) I have to say it's a nice looking bass, and I've listened to the demo videos recently, and they sound pretty good, or at least what you can get from watching a YouTube video. The price isn't too bad, either. I know a lot of Fenders seem to creep around the $800 mark for MIM models. I have to admit, that orange one has caught my attention. :P

The Orange, and the Sea Foam Green do look pretty cool for newer colors in the Mustang PJ series. Would you go for an Orange Mustang PJ in time? For a short scale they play great! Very ballzy in sound. I prefer the middle setting for both pups, or the top setting for the Precision pup on the selector switch.
I tried tracking the ETB92S strings coming from GC.com to avail. I called GC.com customer service, and actually spoke to a gent that was able to help find out what's going on with the Nylons. They aren't sitting on an end table as a drink coaster at a UPS executive's office. They should be delivered on Mon. Oct. 30th. This is one of those UPS things, where if the package is considered too small for UPS to deliver, the package gets transferred to USPS. (The Mail). I hate UPS as is, and this doesn't help any. I would've liked to have had them put a bunch of stamps on the strings, and have some one drop them in a mailbox on the way home.

That bites that you have to wait longer for your strings. I've had that issue with ordering strings before, but that was from places coming from out west, like Musician's Friend, and Bass Strings Online, to where I'd have to wait a week or so. Still, not as bad as that Carvin screw up, which took over a month.

I went ahead and looked at the Sweetwater site, yesterday, and I saw the Seafoam Green and that orange Mustang basses. Pretty cool, but so are the other finishes, too. If I were someday get an orange model, I should name it "Orange Sunshine." :P That would especially fitting, especially with the 60's psychedelic side project. Maybe put some DayGlo stickers on it. :P You know, I actually don't have any of my instruments named. I just haven't really thought of anything to call them, I guess.

I already named my Olympic White Mustang PJ, "White Lightning ". A strong cousin to Orange Sunshine. Been there with both.
"Electric Lady" is the USA GL Jazz, "Windy" is the Spl. Ed. Dlx. PJ Precision, and "White Lightning" is the Mustang PJ.
The strings were shipped in from Kansas. They came in the mail today. That took 10 days to get here. And that was with them getting out the door the same day I ordered them.
Anyway, they're strung on White Lightning.

Me too. I'll get some pics when I get a chance also. For right now, I'd like to just get at least 15-20 minutes playing time with it. This Mustang PJ does appear to be the best I've had.

I had a feeling that you were waiting to get your strings before taking any pics of that bass. That's certainly a nice looking instrument. 8)

Thanks, yeah I was waiting for the strings. The bass sounds fine with the Nylons onboard. Honestly, it sounded pretty decent with the Fender Short Scales on. I don't notice any differences with the Pau Ferro, in place of the typical Rosewood Fretboard. My first go around with a Pau Ferro Fretboard. The grain in the wood is decent. Not bad for one of the lower priced Fender Basses. The overall quality of the MIM's are so well made anymore. Incredible.
