Oh yeah, I noticed you mentioned that on the other threads. For some reason, I had thought you weren't too keen with the Rumble series. Although, that might have been the 1st generation of them with the disco lights.

The first generation was nightmare with a Rumble 100 I had. I found the switch to turn off the DISCO LIGHTS, but that amp had a real problem in the electronics. I wasn't crazy about the MDF cab either. I know some players locally that have the same Markbass set up I had, with load of issues with the heads. I didn't have any, but just decided I wasn't going to gamble on this one being ok.

So it was other known issues with that amp that may you decide to get rid of it before that could potentially happen to you?

Absolutely. I wasn't going hope that mine was ok. Not with the lousy Markbass repair support here in the states.

Yeah, I don't blame you there. Now that you told me about that, I'll make sure to steer clear of those amp for that reason, especially.

That would be a smart move. It's a shame that the head part of their amps is a problem. And like I may have said previously, since Markbass isn't using wood in their cabs, or B&C Speakers, the Rumble has a wood cab, the same electronics as the bigger Fenders, and Eminence speakers. It's sounds good enough for this old man.

Did they have these things beforehand, but decided to cut corners, yet keep the price the same?

That's pretty much it Paul. Not Italian mfg., MDF cab, and no more B&C speakers. The B&C speakers would give the old JBL's, EV SRO's, and Altec Lansing's a good run. Not to mention Jensen, and Celestion as well.

That's a shame. It could wind up biting them on arse in the long run by doing things like that.

You'd think so wouldn't you.

What ever Markbass does, isn't my concern any more. I've pretty much had my fill of their over priced, once well made products. I sure don't mind getting the Mustang PJ. I played it through the 500C yesterday. Smooth, and a really nice clean sounding bottom.

Yeah, I wouldn't go back to that, either. Unless, they change things for the better, which is unlikely.

I don't see the support getting any better for Markbass, since they're still with GC. And we all know how well GC is doing Acoustic as well. GC itself is on more than on thin ice for their existence as it stands today also. I'm pretty much surprised every time I see the local GC still open , and in business. The store closest to me in Coconut Creek, is one of their smaller stores, as compared to the full size ones in Hallandale Beach, and West Palm Beach. I'm exactly 26 miles from either one of those stores.

I guess one of the things that keep them going is they also sell online, which you would be foolish not to do if you have any sort of retail business this day and age, I think. Who knows, though? They've been talking about their death knell for a long time now, so I guess we'll see when we'll see.

The one thing that is negative if they go, then there'll probably be nothing left where they were to replace them. I doubt it will return to the so-called "good old days," if you really want to say they even were, when there were a lot of Mom and Pop type shops around.

That could be a problem with a replacement in the area if they were gone. Fender and Gibson both have some very unrealistic guide lines to become a authorized dealer.
