Yes it is. I'm glad I was able to get mine back, case, and all. Just the way I sold off.

Oh yeah, that's right you did get an additional case for it, as well. What did you do with the gig bag that came with it when you first sold it back?

Mustang PJ's are like Pawn Shop Mustang's, Standard Jazzes, and Standard Precisions. They don't ship from Fender with anything. I kept the gig bag I had that I used for it, until the case I ordered came in. I do have the gig bag still. The case is one reason I was glad to get mine back. Also, I just like it. Everything is tight on it, like the pup selector switch for example. No dead spots on the neck either. I really don't think I ever had a bass with a bad neck on it. Frets maybe not dressed that well, (Gibsons).

That's good that there's no issue with that bass. Less aggravation is always nice. :P

While banging my head against the wall several times, after selling off the Mustang PJ, I thought I'd better try to acquire it back. There are no issues with this short scale. It plays like I wish Gibson SG Std.'s would play. And yes, it's nice to just pic it up and PLAY.

The Mustang PJ is somewhat of a slab body, so it has a bit of body weight to balance it out better than some other short scales, like the Gibson SG Std.'s. I haven't had any neck dive with the PJ.

You play standing or sitting down usually?

I almost always play standing. Even when I did studio work, I stood playing. I don't rest my right arm across the top of the body, and I play with the body more almost on my right hip. So it really feels better standing.

It depends for me. When I had an actual rehearsal in the rehearsal room, I'll stand, but in the studio, I'll sit. It's just practical that way because of the size of the room (it's actually a walk in closet,) and the positioning of the monitors. Now, everything was brought down to the office, so we've been doing a bit of both down here and been sitting. Sometimes, I'll stand and pick up the hollow-body violin bass and noodle around for a few minutes when my girlfriend is getting ready for us to go out. Out of curiosity, I tested it out yesterday and it doesn't have any sort of neck dive at all that I noticed. It's an archtop design, so perhaps that has something to do with it's balance, I don't know.

That's good that you don't have any neck dive. How is it doing with the neck adjustment you set it at? I can play sitting, I'm just more comfortable standing. Lucky for me I guess, my two basses are 7.8 pounds, and 9 pounds. They're easy on this old man's back, and neck.

I put some time in on it yesterday (and like a dumb $@! I accidentally left my cable plugged in the tuner when I tuned it up, even though I shut it off, but luckily it didn't kill the battery when I noticed it today,) and all seems well with the neck and all. Today, I was playing on the Schecter. I go back and forth on the two, then I'll pick up one of the other ones when I go upstairs before I go to bed.

I was playing both yesterday, the PJ, then the 4003. It's a pretty noticeable, for me anyway, the difference between the two boards. For whatever reason the Jazzes felt closer to the PJ. There is a half inch of board radius between the two. 9.5" For the PJ, and 10" for the 4003. But that's not that noticeable, as compared to the feel of the scale, short to long. It's nice to have a different feel between the two. A little more of a stretch from fret, to fret.

That reminds me of when I had to get use to playing the violin bass in comparison to the Schecter. The violin bass was a little harder for me to play because I wasn't use to the smaller neck and fretboard space.

My fingers may be shorter than yours are. The shorter scale is a bit easier to play. A slight adjustment for the feel of the 4003's longer stretch is working ok. I was playing The Beatles, "Come Together" today, and it sounded so damn good.
