I think I either remember seeing that one, or maybe just remember you talking about it. That stuck out because I never seen a fretless model in white, just black or sunburst.

It was awhile back, so it was heard about it. That was the last year did Fender the Arctic White in a Standard Fretless. I had a Badazz ll on it, with D'addario Chrome Flats.

You weren't using the nylons back then, or you just decided on something different?

That's good one Paul. It was just before I saw the new version of Tapewounds. I thought they were still like the 1969/1970 Tapewounds. The Flats sounded, and felt good on it. The D'addario Nylons have a Flats sound to them. D'Addario even mentions that in their web site, about Nylons putting out a Flats sound.

To the best of my knowledge they are. But they do give a great Flat sound.

The Mustang PJ sounds really good with the ETB92S Nylons. It's my shortie Precision.

I suppose that's as close as Fender will make to having a short scale P-Bass, although I do believe they made a short scale Jazz. Then again, I could have that whole thing bass awkward and they actually did make one.

I didn't see one, but heard about a short scale Jazz. MIJ I think it was.

With the Mustang PJ in a case, and out of the gig bag, I feel more comfortable having it more secured. For my taste in body finish, these Mustang PJ's are great looking in the Olympic White.
I do prefer the PJ series, over the Pawn Shop series, if for no other reason, with it being a top string to the Bridge, as compared to a through the body, it uses short scale strings, instead of medium scale strings.
I know, next you're going to say, how long are you going to hang on to this one? it's looking like a serious keeper, like the USA GL Jazz, and I guess the reacquired Am. Std. Jazz as well.

That's good you got a case for it. I've had one of those Fender gig bags and I sure hope they make them better than the one I had, at least. I don't blame you with the string setup. Finding medium scale strings is kind of a pain in the arse, it seems. More so than short scale strings, probably. The one thing I thought was appealing about the Pawn Shop was the humbucker, but the P and J pickups have their merits, too. Either way, that bass you have looks pretty nice. You look like you have a good collection going on. 8)

One of the few Medium Scale that I have used, is the D'Addario ETB92M Nylons. I'd have to agree with you on Shorts being more available than Mediums. The Fender gig bag I have is better than nothing, it keeps the dust off of them, but isn't any protection for much else. I like the group I have here. I'm readjusting to playing a short scale bass again. The long scales have me somewhat set to the playing of them. The Mustang PJ plays very quick though. It's nice to have it to switch off too.

Yeah, that short scale can be a bit of adjustment, or at least it was with my violin bass, which I kind of regret changing the strings on, since that seemed to have caused an issue. Either that, or it just the bass is a cheap P.O.S. , which I should have expected with what I paid for it. I don't know, I think I can get it fixed, but it's still annoying that I even have to.

I hate to say it to you, but for as new as it is, it should hold up a bit better than it has.
Today I feel like I set myself with the PJ. The playing of it just seemed to fall into place. I don't play it much, if at all with just the Jazz pup. I either play it with both pups, or with the Precision pup. The Precision pup on this PJ, has some power to it. Quite a bit louder than the Jazz pup.

I wrote about this over in the Lounge forum, but I went ahead and fixed the issue with my violin bass. No more bad fret buzz on the first frets! I managed to find a small enough screw driver to take off the truss rod cover, that had those tiny screws in it, and an Allen wrench that fit the truss rod. I just gave it a couple of turns and tuned it up. That buzz is gone now and all seems good. 8) I'm going to keep the cover off for now, just in case I need to adjust it again. Those screws seem like the type that can strip real easy, so I don't want to risk that right now. It doesn't detract from the look of the bass, since the whole thing is black, anyway. My girlfriend didn't even notice that when I asked her about it. So, at least that's one less thing I got to worry about now. Another bass back into action, at least. Now, I just have to get the other ones fixed that have the shorts in them and there's that friggin' Peavey issue that's been bugging me for years. That will be like Christmas to a 5 year old if I ever get that squared away for good. That's a pretty solid bass, other than that issue. It has a P and J pickup configuration and a beefy sound. I'd probably use it a lot if I could. I like the feel of the neck on it.
