It looks like I bought my Fender Olympic White, Mustang PJ at a good time. Fender apparently has just had a price increase. It went up $25.00 in price. I saw other Fenders are increased as well.

Oh, they're pulling that crap again? Yeah, good thing you did, then. They haven't done any rebates in a long time, either. Remember they use to do those usually during spring or summer. I think it's been a few years, though.

I know $25.00 isn't going to break the bank, but that's some bucks to go for gas in the car. I haven't seen rebates posted either. I'm just glad I have mine, in my favorite Olympic White, more than anything. I acquired mine on Thursday the 13th, and I saw the increase today on the 16th. I'm pretty sure they were $549.99 last night.

I saw them listed for $549.99 in an American Musical Supply catalog that I just got done reading last night, that came out a couple of weeks ago, and now looking at their site, they are marked $574.99, so you're spot on with that. I wonder if they jacked up the amps again? I'll have to look and see.

I could be way off on this, but I seriously believe it's this Rosewood garbage, and the Rosewood Axes are the target for the price increases.

That wouldn't surprise me. I had a feeling as soon as I heard about that they'd use that as an excuse to jack up prices.

They must have, I don't know.

I happen to look at the Standard P Basses on the site and the maple fretboard ones were still $599.99 and the rosewood are $25 more. So, I'm guessing the whole rosewood thing has something to do with this. I had a feeling they'd do that after reading about that.

It's more than coincidence the Rosewoods are up in price, and not the Maples.

Yeah, it looks that way. The funny thing is it seems there's more rosewood boards than maple ones, especially with budget priced instruments. Personally, I happen to like the sound and look of a maple fret board, so problem with that.

I was always more partial to maple boards myself.

I like that look with the pearl block inlays with the maple, like your GL and that '77 Jazz I had. I don't know why you don't see more maple boards over rosewood, especially if rosewood is supposed to be endangered or whatever?

If I had my choice on a bass's board, Maple would be it. The Mustang PJ would be kicking SOB with a Maple board. Precisions seem to do well with Maple boards also. I really like the Board on the USA GL too. It would be nice to see more of that set up on other basses.

My 50's reissue P-Bass I had back in the 90's had a maple board on it. I've often regretted getting rid of that bass.

I had a Standard Fretless Arctic White Jazz several years ago, I should have hung on to it too.
